New Rob Thomas series Plymouth Rock

Post by VAsusieQ18 »

/My apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere. Please feel free to delete if necessary. /

This is obviously not a previous role, but could it potentially be a future role for our Jason?

Rob Thomas, the executive producer for Veronica Mars, is working on a new TV show for the CW. "Plymouth Rock" is a sci-fi genre episodic TV show set on a spaceship travelling to a distant planet. The young people on board have a mission to colonise the new world and save the human race.

Rob Thomas is known to favor those actors that have worked with him in the past. And we know that many of the cast members from Veronica Mars, including Jason, have worked extensively with Rob on other works. I wonder if this type of show would be something that would interest Jason? And if so, what would be the chances of us getting him back on our TVs on a weekly basis?

Susie, since this is speculation for the future, I split it off from the "Past Projects" thread and gave it its own for discussion purposes. As a matter of fact, r1015bill had posted similar info over at the motel.

I don't know. :noway: As much as I want to see our boy back on television, I'm having a hard time picturing him in this. Maybe I lack the proper imagination, but all I can see is vapid 20-somethings in silver lamé jumpsuits. I know Rob Thomas is not that cheesy, but I don't have a lot of faith in the CW at this point -- especially after they passed on something as smart as "Body Politic."

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what Thomas comes up with before I say whether or not its something that I'd be interested in watching. I read somewhere that Thomas wants the show to be character-driven and he's sort of modeling the futuristic aspects of the drama after Battlestar Galactica, minus the war with the Cylons. :snicker: I just can't believe that an entire series is going to be based upon a desperate need to procreate! :giggle: Wait a minute. Its TV. Its the CW. Of course it makes sense that sex would be a priority! :teeth:

Hmmmm... sounds like a typical CW hit to me. Only 2 million will watch it, but the entertainment media will be all over it... It won't be awful at all, and it won't get the scathing reviews that shows on the other networks endure... Jason could do worse...

If you read a lot of books you are considered well read. But if you watch a lot of TV, you're not considered well viewed. Lilly Tomlin

Grateful to Alex for Mick, Andy, and McG. :)

I'm thinking...the ship will need a handsome, smart, charming, earnest yet endearingly snarky young captain...

Yeah, Lilly, can't think of anyone who could do THAT.

Sorry, I took a wrong turn coming back from the Motel and didn't get the article from SFX up as soon as I'd hoped. I'll just add to this thread for reference.
Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas is developing Plymouth Rock for the CW, a space-set soap opera about a bunch of young people on the way to colonise a new planet.

Thanks, francis. :smooch:

It's a good color for him -- and it IS a captain's uniform... :chin:

And since someone mentioned silver lame...does anyone else remember Gil Gerard in "Buck Rogers" back in the late 70's or so?
