Francis, I like this. Mick's confusion is just wonderful - bouncing between lover, mother, monster and child. You captured his fear at sleeping in a freezer for the first time so well. Kudos.

Thank you, nm. I'm late with my thanks, but it means a lot. I can just try to imagine what it would be like to sleep in a freezer. Claustrophoby, here I come.

Great story and nice use of the subject.

The short clip we see of Mick and his first "victim" was a very emotional scene and you have given it so much more depth.

Poor Mick, the transition if very hard for him. He wants to hold on to his humanity but there are some things that a fledgling needs whether they want them or not.

The thing I love most about this story is that Mick is so bewildered by what has happened to him, and yet somehow very aware of what it's going to mean. He thinks like the man he always was, but his new body knows what it wants and what it needs.... and it's just dragging him along with it, whether he wants to go or not. His thoughts are so tormented, and of course he can't communicate any of his confusion or horror to Coraline. He never was very good at talking about the important stuff, was he? And of course, she wouldn't have any understanding of his mortal scruples anyway. She'd just tell him to let all that go, he didn't need it anymore.

Sigh... poor Mick. :Mickangel:
