To me, one of the really cool things that Alex said in this series of interviews was that doing the show is making him challenge some of his long-held beliefs, making him look at important philosophical issues in a new way. But he does not say what those beliefs were in the first place--and frankly, I respect him for that as well.

What a wonderful experience it must be for a thoughtful person (as Alex so obviously is) to be given the opportunity to look at his long-held beliefs--things he hasn't even bothered to think about for quite some time because they'd grown so familiar and almost taken for granted--and reevaluate them. This doesn't mean that he's necessarily going to come to a different conclusion, mind you... it just means that he's looking at them through new eyes. Challenging himself and challenging those long-held beliefs, and seeing whether or not they still hold up.

I admire him for making those statements. They show how open he is to new ideas, how intelligent and adaptable and, to use his own word, how resilient he is.

Darn woman, you say it all so well. I agree completely. What I have always adored about this man is not just his gorgeous visage (writery word alert), but his intelligence, thoughtfulness and all around sense of humanity. He not only performs in his roles, he absorbs them: the knowledge and philosophies he gains from everything he does puts him on a whole other plane than most mere mortals.

Plus, he looks like he does.
I might have mentioned that part before, but didn't want to be remiss.

Wonderful review in the Chicago Tribune this morning, mostly centered around the addition of Afre Woodard. Since this is a Tribune Newspapers article, it may have already appeared in other papers, and I apologize if this has already been posted.
Most of the review centers around the 'ghastly' original pilot. Cracked up at this: "Not only were there about 3,000 soulful-eye close-ups of star Alex O'Loughlin..." ----what's the problem with that??? I have no problem with that!

The gist of the entire review is that 3R is inherently believable and non-histrionic, especially compared to other tv hospital dramas. Some of my fave quotes: "3Rivers is a hospital from which one might expect to emerge alive, a statement that cannot be made about other television hospitals."
"A welsome sense of non-hysteria prevails", "walking the line between dramatizing what is an already overly dramatic situation and hyperbolizing it is an ambitious quest, but Barbee (creator) and her cast and crew might just pull it off."

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi- ... 5960.story
All in all, this sounds like a realistic, smart totally not your average 'dumbed down' (my words) tv drama.

Anyone else getting excited yet?

Very nice, JIMS... I suppose CBS is paying for all that... I am surprised and grateful...

I just saw a new commercial for Three Rivers that was very different from what's aired before. I looked on youtube and CBS but don't see a copy of it yet. It's recipients holding pictures of presumably their donors, Danny Lee and Alfre Woodard speaking to camera, and Alex at the end with what's become the tag line of the show. Lab coats all around, and pretty slick.
