Here's a picture of Sabine on the night as well. She's the one on the far left, you can see the gift folder she put together for Alex in her hand. The cover artwork for it was done by a woman called 'Maude' from the Netherlands. :ysmile:

Image

And one of Sabine by herself...

Image

Not sure who to credit these to, they were posted over at H-50 Fans Forum.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And here is a shot of the folder we put together as a gift for Alex. Like I said before, it was just a bit of an informational/introduction thing that we did. It had pictures of us (ie those of us involved with the Alex O'Loughlin Fans for Donate Life), introductory letters saying who we were, how Alex inspires us, what supporting Donate Life meant for us, background information on the AOL Fans for Donate Life, and so on...Plus some lighthearted stuff as well, like 'Fun Facts' about us, and that sort of thing.
Image
And a shot inside of one of the pictures I included of myself :blushing: (I've had to distort out the other page because it's the piece I was talking about that's only to be shown to a very limited number of people)
Image
I also included this picture of myself as part of my introduction letter...
Image
This is what I wrote for my introduction letter. I wasn't sure about including the stuff about my anorexia, and how I was semi disabled, and unable to work, but Sabine encouraged me to - She wanted it to be something that really showed Alex who we each of us were, and gave him a more 'personal' sense about how much it meant for us to support Donate Life (paraphrased)... :ysmile:
Introduction Letter
Dear Alex
Greetings from Adelaide, South Australia. First let me take this opportunity to say a very sincere ‘congratulations’ on the news of Hawaii 5-0 being picked up for the CBS Fall season, as well as for the recent success of The Backup Plan. I wish you all the best for the future success of your latest venture, and hopefully much more to come. You certainly deserve it for how hard you work, and for the skills, and presence you bring to the screen.
I first discovered your considerable talents in the Television series, Moonlight. Remember that Vampire show you did? I thought I’d better jog your memory in case it had been more than five minutes since somebody reminded you about it…I’m just kidding. Since that time I have had the privilege of viewing almost your entire body of available work. I have continued to be both impressed, and amazed by your ability to truly inhabit the characters you play, and bring them to life so beautifully. You are a consummate performer, and a true delight to watch as an actor.
When it comes to the subject of Organ Donation, it is difficult for me to put into words just how much my involvement with the Alex O’Loughlin Fans for Donate Life truly means to me. Although I have been in recovery now for a little over five years, a near three-decade battle with Anorexia Nervosa has left me semi disabled, and unable to work due to permanent physical damage. I consider myself one of the lucky ones. I have friends, and acquaintances in similar circumstances, who are now facing the grim reality of eventually being placed on Organ Transplant waiting lists, as their own Organs continue to fail.
I will be forever grateful to you, and to Donate Life, for both the inspiration, and the opportunity you have given me. To not only do my part in helping to support this life saving, and life changing work, but also for being afforded the wonderful opportunity to feel as if I am still able to make a contribution to society, despite my disabilities. From the bottom of my heart, I cannot thank you enough.
With Kindest Regards.
Yours Sincerely,
Claire Eyles.
And this is what I included for the 'Lighter, Fun Side' as well. :twothumbs:
And now for something a little more light hearted
Several Fun and Interesting Facts About Me:
I grew up in a working class family, living in Housing Trust housing. I am certainly no stranger to doing it tough. I’ve lined up at soup kitchens, and charity centres for a meal, and spent time on the streets. I am grateful for these experiences, because through them I believe I learnt the true value of community.
Anzac Day holds special significance for me. I have three Great Uncles who fought at Gallipoli. One of who was later killed at the Battle of Somme, the other two both dying in earlier, and later battles. I also have a distant cousin who was part of the initial dawn landing at Anzac Cove.
The traits I most admire in a person are, Integrity, Honesty, Loyalty, and Sincerity. I pride myself on the same.
My two favourite mottos are –
- This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.
- Always be kind, you never know the weight of another man’s burden.
My favourite Television shows growing up were, Monkey (I had a crush on Tripitaka), Knight Rider, The A-Team, The Addams Family, Monster Squad, & The Banana Splits Show.
I had OCD tendencies as a child. I couldn’t step on cracks, or lines, and getting dressed was a nightmare, seeing as everything had to be done from right to left without fail.
I was also a bit of a daredevil as a child - ‘Sure I can do a somersault off that second story balcony’, ‘you want me to do a controlled stunt skid into a barbed wire fence on my pushbike? No problem’ - Needless to say I spent a lot of my childhood covered by a black, and blue patchwork of bruises.
I have Attention Deficit Disorder.
I never did quite grow out of my 80’s Goth ‘phase’.
I have been completely obsessed with Vampires, and the Vampire Genre since childhood. I read Bram Stoker’s Dracula at the age of eight.
I simply adore the movie ‘Let the Right One In’. I consider it to be one of the finest Vampire films ever made, a true masterpiece of the genre.
I am an avid Horror, and Splatter movie buff. The more blood, and body parts flying, the better as far as I’m concerned.
I am a night owl. I very rarely sleep before 3 am. When I was growing up I would often look out my bedroom window at night, and contemplate the night sky, the Moon, the Stars, the wider Universe. I was fascinated with what our place was in the vastness of it all.
I am a total bookworm, passionate about music, the arts, theatre, and dance, and I love seeking knowledge for knowledge’s sake.
And last but not least, my worst habit – I swear, far, far too much.
I've just heard from Sabine. I can't really say anything just yet, except she's still sorting things out. It was only a brief email, just touching base. I've responded, and as soon as I hear back from her and get the okay to say more, I will let you guys know.
Sabine has just posted something quickly on the site (thanks to Overdamoon on Hawaii 5-0 Fans for picking this up). I already knew this, but Sabine had asked me not to say anything just yet.
------------------------------------
Hello everybody :)
I will write more soon, for now I wanted to give you all some quick information about my meeting with Alex.
Tenaya said that his car service didn't pick him up in time, so Alex jumped into his own car and drove to the VIP party.
There wasn't enough time for an interview, but I got an exclusive Meet & Greet.
XOXO Sabine
------------------------------------
Definitely disappointing that she didn't get the interview, but at least she got an exclusive meet and greet.
And now that Sabine has posted the information...
This is the email I got from her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hi Claire! :)

Here's an exclusive photo just for you, because it shows your picture, while I talked about you (and shortly before the photo was taken had talked about your article on how you got involved in organ donation). He was so impressed, especially when I said you're from Australia.

I'm still sorting things out, please don't tell anyone yet, but there was no time for an interview, because there was a mishap with his drive service. So, he arrived too late.

More soon!

Love XOXO
Sabine

Yes, definitely disappointing, through no fault of Alex or Tenaya. Poor Alex getting left stranded like that, and having to drive through L.A traffic himself to get to the event. :no:

But at least she did get a 'Meet and Greet', and got to present him with our Gift Folder :twothumbs:

Here's another picture of Sabine and Alex :ysmile:

He looks genuinely interested in the folder. That's good! I'm glad to know he appreciates his fans. And knows that we're also interested in helping him use his celebrity for making the world a better place.

Awww, how great that she got to meet him in person and give him the folder. He was so interested in it, I bet he reads it thoroughly when he gets the chance. I'm sorry that there was no interview, but maybe you will have another chance to give him your questions. They were all so very good.

Thank you to Em and Sabine for their great work!

Thank guys :flowers:

Sabine didn't get much time with him, not as much as she would have liked anyway. She did get to speak to him though, and show him the folder, and wanted to make sure he knew about me, and the work I'd been doing for the site :blushing: (she's sweet :rose: ). Apart from what I wrote above, about him hearing the story of how I got involved in supporting Organ Donation, I heard from someone else, who knew someone was there, that apparently he was stoked when he found out I was Australian.:teeth:

Sabine sent me this a little while ago... :twothumbs:

A photographer who walked with him a little longer said that he talked about the things I gave him, and that he thought they were truly beautiful. We definitely made an impact. Diana knows about us now, and of course he does! He would've talked longer with me, but he had to go on to talk to someone else and then he left. I shouted "Bye Alex!" And at first he looked confused, not knowing who it was, but then he saw me and smiled.

The man is an absolute class act. I will write more of course, but Tenaya said I shouldn't say everything all at once. LOL

Dear friends! I told Alex how much his worldwide fans love, care about him and support him, this was his reaction: "I LOVE THEM!" His eyes were so big! If eyes truly are the window of one's soul, then I can confirm that his soul is filled with nothing but love and appreciation for all of us. Imagine the most wonderful summer's day, the warmth surrounding you - that's how great Alex's love is for you! :) XOXO Sabine

From Sabine on the Alex O'Loughlin Fans for Donate Life Main Site

http://www.alexoloughlinfansfordonatelife.com/

While I'm preparing my article about my attendance of the three awesome events of the Donate Life Hollywood Film Festival, I'm posting a wonderful blog entry by our authors from Germany as well as another photo of Alex with his so well deserved award. Alex was extremely touched by receiving the award, and when I met him he looked like as if he couldn't believe that he had won. I told him that he absolutely deserves this award, because he worked so hard on his role in "Three Rivers". But he still incredulously looked at me.

Text and translation by Tinker (AnnHart) and image by Petralisa, members of the German Alex O'Loughlin Fan Club Network:

In the context of the Donate Life Film Festival, on June 11, 2010, Alex won the award of Donate Life Hollywood's Person of the Year. He deserves it and it's a great honor for him. Through his work as an Ambassador for Donate Life he tries to advert people for Organ donation. We got aware of Organ donation after seeing the show Three Rivers. This made us think about life and we decided to support Alex with his project. And this since a while. Alex we are so happy for you and we are proud to be a part of your project. But you know this in the meantime! Someone told you about.
Thank you to all who supported us! There is a lot of work to do!
Congratulations from your "gang", the German Alex O'Loughlin Fan Club Network We are proud of you!

------------------------- German text --------------------------------------

Im Rahmen des Donate Life Film Festivals wurde Alex gestern der Titel "Donate Life Hollywood's Person of the Year" verliehen!

I love this set of pics... he looks so genuine... a little off balance, a little bit out of his element, a bit taken by surprise, but he's a trooper and he pulls it off with grace. But he still looks just slightly shy of truly comfortable... kinda endearing.

Thanks so much, Em, for bringing the last set of pictures here. That's the guy who blogged about being heartbroken when Moonlight was cancelled.- the real one behind the Hollywood exterior he's had to grow. :heart: :heart:
