My local CBS station shows 2 episodes of CM for tonight, at 9 and 10 pm. Is that common?
I don't really care to watch the entire new epi but cannot miss the promp for Alex's next week :yahoo:

I'm not sure why CBS was messing with their usual viewing schedule this week. Maybe to try shows out in different time slots perhaps? Last night was messed up too. They put their Monday night comedies on at 8 and 8:30, NCIS at 9PM and them The Mentalist on at 10PM, plus they had The Mentalist on on Monday night as well.

So tonight, instead of a new CM episode at 9PM, there will be a repeat CM and then at 10PM, the new CM will be aired in place of Without a Trace. Interesting, huh? Maybe seeing how CM does at 10PM for next season?

Supposedly, according to TVbyTheNumbers, CBS is trying out successful shows in different time slots to see how they fare. For example, NCIS this week was being shown at 9:00 pm, when it usually airs at 8:00. The Mentalist was show at 10:00 pm, when its usually shown at 9:00 pm. Several other shows have been given the "switch-a-roo" to different times. The thought is that there may be so juggling of the schedule to accommodate new shows this fall. Initial feedback apparently looks good. The Mentalist still had a very strong audience, even with a repeat and at a different time. So perhaps CBS is looking for a good "fit" for Three Rivers.

Susie, have to agree, I think just maybe CBS might have some big surprises this year. So many shows for CBS are hits, but so expensive. Welcome to 2009, big expenses, not real cool.

^ and about that not sure if it was posted before :
CBS: Smaller Shows, Bigger Film DivisionUPDATE: You asked, I'll answer. I've just learned that CBS has demanded that each existing TV show -- even the hit ones -- reduce their budgets for next year, if renewed. This may mean smaller writing staffs. Meanwhile, Hollywood has been speculating about the future of the new CBS feature division. I'm told, "All systems go". Not only are there no layoffs, but there are actually additions as the division heads into production. Shooting begins April 7th on its first motion picture, a medical drama starring Harrison Ford. And its second pic, a romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lopez, starts principal photography in May.

I would guess they want to make sure their big hits do well at different time slots and then squeeze in their new shows using the old hit times to draw in the viewers for their new shows. For example, if CM does well at 10:00, then put TR on at 9:00 followed by CM at 10 PM. Use the proven time slot for a show and put the new show there with the draw of their favorite show to follow. If those viewers were used to watching CBS at 9 anyway, then they will habitually put on the TV at 9, wanting CM, and then watch TR waiting for CM----hopefully to then get hooked on TR and CM.

Am I making any sense here? :blushing:

Makes sense to me! :rofl2:

And with all of CBS's shows having to reduce their budget, it will definitely be interesting to see if we can see those "cutbacks" in set designs and special effects. Heck, even the actors are being asked to take pay cuts on certain shows. Next year's returning and new shows sure will be interesting to check out with all the cutbacks. Not sure if its a good thing....or we'll be left with tofu ice cubes and really bad background setups. :snicker:

We should be the execs at CBS---we analyze everything down to the minutest detail! :snicker:

It might be good for Alex though, because he is going to be on their second feature film ever for CBS as a result of those cutbacks!
