But on the upside, the promo ended with that heart-stopping smile..
His name AGAIN? :mob: How did they mangle it this time?
Well, at least they are smart enough to start promoting the show.

Seriously tho, does the man not have a manager or a publicist who could call friggin CBS and say,

"Hey guys, kudos! You had the wit and intelligence to hire my client, a really fine actor... and btw, his name is Alex O-apostrophe, el, o, you, gee, aich, el again, eye, enn... and it is pronounced O Lock lin.... and further btw, if you check page 3 of his standard contract it notes that he expects it to be spelled and pronounced correctly in all promos... You GOT that Mr. Moonbeam and Mrs. Tasserelle???????"

Seriously... you think Fleur WOULDN"T do that if he were HER client?????? I don't don't even wanna get IN to what Red would do...

Will the women who write fan fiction about Alex O'Loughlin's "Moonlight" character worship him as steadfastly now that he has shorter hair? My guess is they will, judging by the somewhat insane enthusiasm for him I've seen all over the Internet.

There are women who write fan fiction about his Moonlight character?? Really!? And they're motivated by his hair....o, the horror of it all!!

Found this article in the Washington Post by Lisa de Moraes....it summarizes the CBS upfronts yesterday and some of the more off-the- wall antics that went on (some of which would have been worth paying to see)

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/05/20/AR2009052003381.html?hpid=artsliving

apparently, the news media were taken by surprise that CBS picked up 'Medium' hours after NBC cancelled it and they grilled the poor CBS scheduling chief, Kelly Kahl

LL Cool J apparently sang to Nina, shouted 'I love you' to her, then hugged her, leaving her speechless.....

But the real reason I bring this up was exchange between the press and Kelly Kahl regarding Three Rivers:

"'But they were deeply suspicious of CBS's decision to put a new medical drama, "Three Rivers" on Sunday at 9. One reporter informed Kahl that there have been a slew of medical dramas on the air over the years, and wondered what made them think this one was so special. Kahl smirked for just the briefest of seconds, then explained patiently that it stars Alex O'Loughlin -- the vampire from "Moonlight." The reporter had no comeback."

That is an awful lot of pressure, and not fairly mind you, to put upon Alex...

The show still has to be good... I mean, ML was good, had a good cast, ok some uneven writing and clearly some odd production bs... but so much of it was really good, and that didn't please the Eye...

So if they think 3R will be a success JUST riding on Alex's (admittedly FINE) shoulders, they are whacked... the cast, the writing, the plots, the directing, and the production absence-of-bs all have to work too...

Godspeed Alex... you're still working for odd people, honey...
And Nina's line... proves my point...

Minority view, but I was angry when ML came back from the writers' strike and the ads showed Mick open-shirted on the beach (love the pic-hated the ads). I thought they marketed him like a bimbo and that anyone who tuned in from those ads would be disappointed because that was not what the show was about.
I think Nina still looks at him the way a desperate housewife looks at the pool boy. He appears to take it all in stride but he's an intelligent, talented professional actor and it's got to rankle. Perhaps that's part of the reason he selected this role (Bob knows what else they may have offered him!) and now they're treating him the same way at the upfronts. If he's darn near the only reason they picked this show up, what kind of pressure does that put on him and if it falls short, he's the guy with 2 failed shows.
Hollyweird indeed!

Moonlight is a fairy tale in that it takes you into another world, another dimension. I don't see Three Rivers that way. It's very real and raw due to the subject matter. Hospital dramas, no matter how soap opera they get, will NEVER be fairy tales. Moonlight was real too, but in a different way. Am I making sense here? LOL Three Rivers will be good because of Alex and if the writing is up to par. If there are more scenes like the one of Andy and the basketball player... the writing and emotion will be wonderful.

It's not Moonlight...it's not supposed to be. It's not a substitute, it's another chapter in Alex's career. :)

Like jmc, I didn't appreciate being, basically, talked down to by CBS when they showed Mick on the beach either. Yes, Alex is sexy, but good gravy, CBS, give women a little credit. It's kind of like getting a nice gift of cookies or a cake from your place of work. It's nice and all and I'll enjoy it, but I'd have preferred a raise. Ya know? I realize that we all oogle Alex/Mick in all the various pics, but we all KNOW for a FACT, it's about more than titilation for women.

Thank you dsr for the Washington Post article. Shocking, just shocking I say that some reporters find CBS a bit skeevy regarding it's lineup and how it makes its selections. Bob bless Alex for even wanting to give it a go again on CBS. He must want this awful bad. I hope it's great for him, good exposure, good cred and lifts him even higher in Hollyweird.

And it's numbers arn't wonderful either...and no Alex. Nuts to Nets, at least that net. :slappy:

Poor CBS, when asked why 3 Rivers...some press person said "Alex". Now I'm a big fan of AOL so no fruit :tomato: but Moonlight, for me at least, was the whole cast (Holy cow Jason Dohring and the Armani vampire), some really good writing (like Jill B) and the storyline. A year after it's cancellation CBS still doesn't get it. Good grief.

Nope. And that is a serious problem. Because it's the SHOW, not the GUY that people are going to keep watching. They might tune in for Alex, but if his show sucks they won't stay. And poor Alex will be blamed if they don't. So.... I hope it's really good. That's all we can do.

And, as we discovered to our sorrow, even a really good show doesn't always succeed. So I've got all my crossables crossed, as my old pal Rowena says.

You know who was blamed for the failure of "From Justin to Kelly"? Kelly Clarkson? NEWP. It was Justin. Even though, they were BOTH headliners of that movie.

I am nervous for this show because the press will run with the whole "Alex failed twice on CBS." I know they will. They are the most predictable people EVER.

It's a double-edged sword, isn't it? If it succeeds ala The Mentalist, CBS gets to gloat that we are only watching for Alex. We WERE actor-centric. If it bombs, Alex gets blamed and SO DO WE because we didn't watch or call everyone in the United States personally asking them to watch the da*n show.

We are fricked either way.
