It certainly does seem like CBS is trying to make Three Rivers a success.
Do we know if they will be broadcasting the missing Cold Case episode too? Or has CBS thrown that show to the wolves since they were so close to cancelling it last spring? It does seem like CBS either loves a show or they hate it.

Yes, the omniscient "Clarissa". CBS would be pretty flaky if they would cancel a show after their other news releases today. Of course, it is CBS.

I've edited my post - this blog has been updated that it's all a big rumour/hoax. I don't think my blood pressure can take it....

From Rueben on VLF
There is nothing more in the following blog page except what you see below:
http://behindthescreensblog.com/2009/10 ... -canceled/
The only thing making me believe this COULD be possible is this statement about the blogger:
http://behindthescreensblog.com/about-2/
Time will tell.
I first saw this on Facebook, but haven't heard about any other news outlets even remotely saying anything about cancellation (not counting the hoax).
And apparently Good Intentions is being re broadcast on Saturday here. It will be interesting to see what it does. Hopefully there will be some promotion although on a Saturday night the likelihood of grabbing a decent number of 18-34 y.o. will be tough.

This Pic. Oh My God. I mean....it's just......wow.
ETA:

lilly
Then, I scan forward a few pages and find even more lusciousness.
Great news on the re-broadcast. More nights = more chance of viewers.
Continuing to be optimistic. Hoaxes/rumours be damned!

I know the cancellation story was a hoax, but I'm a strong believer in "where there's smoke there's fire". Moonlight broke my heart, so I'm now watching TR with my head. I'm not getting too attached just in case the unthinkable happens. I pray CBS gives it time to find its audience. It appears its getting stronger with every episode - its just a shame they started with its weakest one and have driven away a lot of viewers, who probably won't give it a second chance.

Sadly, I think you're right Marg. It makes sense that CBS would be watching the numbers very closely and I wouldn't be surprised if the next episode makes or breaks it. They're re-airing the third episode on Saturday and then airing episode four on Sunday. There's not expected to be any delays because of football this week, so I imagine they're looking to see how well the show does before making a decision one way or the other, which is brutal and unfair, but fairly typical of networks I expect.
If they'd started with the stronger episode (I've enjoyed them all, but others are saying the first aired was weaker and I accept that) perhaps more people would have tuned in the second week, but how is it expected to make up lost ground now just because it's airing on time this week? it's still up against Desperate Housewives and it's still got an incompatible lead-in with The Amazing Race. IMO it's going to take more than one steady week to re-establish itself, therefore I can't help but feel that if the ratings are poor this week with no uptick in viewers then early next week we'll hear bad news. I know this supposed hoax has been quashed for now, but he's maintaining it'll be official soon and I feel he could be right.
I'm enjoying the show and would love to see it succeed for Alex's sake. But I'm also happy to see him in anything, so it's not about the losing the show for me; it's the damage to his psyche and his career that I worry about. Alex has put so much of himself into this show, and I imagine that's just a trait of his personality, but as well as being a wonderful thing it's also very draining emotionally when things turn sour. I hope it doesn't put him off working in television because I selfishly want to see him every week in a show, and I hope it doesn't make it hard for him to find more work. I don't know how these things work because I've actually never followed an actor's career before, but some people have suggested (months ago, not recently) that being in two failed TV series could affect his chances in the future. So these are the reasons why I don't want to see TR fail.
It's great reading over on TRF that it's all hands on deck; Nicki on the set is tweeting, Alex has been seen in his white lab coat shooting at Paramount, but I can't help feeling that we're all holding a collective breath, and that the cast and crew are too, waiting for the wretched axe to fall. It's just dispiriting. I really hope I'm wrong, praying for it in fact.

I don't believe in "Where there's smoke, there is fire." I believe in "When there's smoke, someone smoked to make you believe there is fire."
If we panic now and don't let ourselves enjoy the show we give that blogger more power than he ever deserved. And we do a disservice to the authors and actors who try to entertain us.
Here's why I believe in TR at least up to midseason:
- The numbers are going up. CBS said so.
- CBS gave a press release about the numbers going up. They said nothing about cancelling shows.
- CBS gives press releases up to episode 6 as of yesterday.
- They released that Mandy Patinkin is a guest star.
- They promote TR over the whole weekend with lots of promos.
- The actors call for episode 9 is out.
- They gave episode 3 a second chance. They didn't do that for the Cold Case rerun.
- Instead of cancelling TR on Sunday, they cancelled the rerun of Cold Case even when that show has better numbers.
- They asked the blogger to take his words back. If they planned on cancelling anyway, would they go to that lengths?
When I learned anything from the ML fiasko it's that I won't let a stupid blog decide on my mood and emotions. I will use my head, look for sources where they are valuable and forget the rest.

MoonMad, I agree with your worries about damage to Alex's psyche and his career, but he is a strong person--I have faith that even if the show fails, he'll spring back. And don't forget--there are other actors who had similar experiences. Think of Nathan Fillion--Firefly lasted only one season, then he was in Drive, a total flop... and now he's finally gotten his hit in Castle. Simon Baker took a couple of tries before he found his hit in The Mentalist. If the guy's good enough--and heaven knows, Alex is--and if he perseveres, chances are that he'll finally get a hit. I've got everything crossed that Three Rivers will finally be Alex's hit, but even if it isn't, I think he'll make it.
Francis, I like your attitude and am doing my best to emulate you. I will not believe that Three Rivers is canceled until CBS tells me so. And I will continue to hope (and work, grass-roots style, by telling people about the show) for improved numbers for it. That's all I can do.
