And in this episode it's not only the police but the FBI? It does make you wonder how they solve any cases in the real world, doesn't it? Sheesh! :beep:

Oh dear, so true in this one... that the profilers would be so ludicrously off and not notice any of the things Mick did, like the Clearasil and the vid games and the skateboarding mags... yeah, that was a bit over the top... Mick is the only one who noticed the very old photograph and knew it for what it was, the pic of the perp. THAT should have been his only necessary advantage over the cops, aside from having Beth palm the address book...

Mick and Beth are on there way to Greene's. Beth tells Mick the call went to voice-mail. He says it's a public place at a crowded pier, she should be okay until they get there.

Image

Back at Greene's the teen vamp tells Cherish he wants to go on the rides, play some games - the roller coaster is killer *snort*

Image

Cherish tells him she doesn't have time for all that.

Image

Vampie gets serious. Tells her to move closer. She does.

Image

But it wasn't close enough for his liking. He pulls her chair to him. Now their close.

Image

Back in the car Beth asks Mick how it works. The sex thing.

Image

Mick jokingly asks if her parent never told her.

Image

They skipped the part involving vampires.

Image

Vampires and humans, she means. Mick stares at her (Mick! Watch the damn road!)

Image

Beth says it's totally hypothetical. Of course.

Image

At Greene's the vampie tells Cherish to kiss him. She gives him a peck on the cheek.

Image

He gets a little angry and tells her to do it like she means it.

In the car Mick asks Beth if she wants to know how it works. It doesn't.

Image

Beth asks if it's impossible. It's not impossible just inadvisable - it never ends well. Never?

Image

Mick changes the subject. Tells Beth to try the number again. That was a little too close for comfort.

Image

Cherish gives Vampie another kiss. He gets a little worked up and grabs her leg.

Image

She pulls back and pushes him away. She tells him to calm down. He tells her to do what she's paid for.

Image

Her phone rings and she says she's out of there. She picks up the phone as he tells her not to answer it.

Image

She goes to get up and he pulls her back down and knocks the phone from her hand. With claws, he grabs her by the arm and tells her to sit still.

Image

Mick and Beth pull up on the pier and get out. Mick asks Beth if he has her on the phone but she can't tell. (I don't think they're suppose to park there.)

Image

Beth hands the phone to Mick. Vampie has Cherish pick the phone up off the floor and give it to him. You can hear Mick calling to them on the other end. He pulls Cherish up and, arm around her, walks to the back of Greene's.

Image

Mick is talking to him over the phone, telling him that he knows why he's doing this. Is it because of the bordello? He asks who turned him.

Image

Mick tells him to let the girl go, he knows he wants to. The teen vamp asks Mick who he is.

Image

Mick gives him his name and tells him he is also a vampire - like him. He tries empathy, telling him that he knows he feels cursed, like it's a bad dream.

Image

Teen vamp says he didn't choose this, it was done to him. Mick says he can always chose. (Is that so?)

Image

Image

Teen vamp drops the phone and, with Cherish, takes off down the pier. Mick and Beth follow. They run through Greene's and by the time they get back onto the pier they've lost them.

Image

Mick listens for them trying to pinpoint their location as he walks along.

Image

He finally hears them in an arcade and rushes in. Vampie and Cherish are in the photo booth.

Image

Mick warns Beth back just before he goes in.

Image

He grabs the teen by the neck. But Vampie has Cherish by the neck so Mick has to let go.

Image

The exit. A guy behind them tells him to let the girl go. He turns and slices his neck.

Image

Pushes Cherish into Mick and takes off. Mick runs after him as Beth comforts Cherish.

Image

Mick can't find the vamp. He searches and finally goes towards the water and sniffs. But there's no vamp to be seen.

Image

That's because he's hiding under the boardwalk.

Oh. My. God. When I took that sceencap in the booth I was thinking the SAME thing, Lisa.

Anybody else thinking how hypocritical Mick was on the phone with TeenVamp? I mean, no, Mick's not out there killing escorts but he's certainly not Mr. Happy Vamp either.

I've always loved how Mick reacts after he successfully diverts Beth's attention away from sex (with vampires). That little puff of the cheeks is so cute. It's his own fault really. He was the one talking about how teenager boys think about sex so often (wonder how often grown men/vampires think about it)?

I know. For how careful he is around Beth, it surprised me that he would say that. Then again, at this point, he is feeling more comfortable around her. Enough to open up about things like that. Or maybe he was just seeing what her reaction would be--kind of testing the waters?

Maybe he is....because by the end of the episode, when she gives him that kiss, his voice over is 'What we want doesn't always matter...
but then again, sometimes it's all that does.' So yeah, he's interested.

Isn't that part of the definition of hooker? Crappy, tacky, but very tall, shoes? And you think her dress is any better?

Hmmm... I think that stat would be fairly comparable.

But I had a problem with the sex thing and the teen vamp. I know he's physically 16 forever... and aside from the point that many of you have made about the acne (WTF were they thinking doing that to that character?) how is it he can't figure out how to have decent sex in 100 plus years? I get that the vampire thing gives the urges more stridency and potential violence... but they were implying that completion, or premature completion, is a problem. WHY? It's been awhile since I was 16, but I've got a teen daughter and I'm pretty sure that most 16 year old boys can figure what goes where and how, and practice does make perfect...he's had over 100 years! How stupid IS this guy? Hell with the internet one can get a tutorial. And he grew up in a brothel?

So he's never gonna be suave Josef, and so he kills a hooker when he has sex... call the Cleaner and get the next girl lined up... I'm not seeing why this guy makes such a mess out of something plenty of 16 year old humans manage to figure out, sad to say, on a pretty much daily basis.

And he uses a land line to make his dates? So he can be tracked? Seriously, he deserved to die just on lack of IQ points alone.

I think the difference is that Mick sees the teen vamp as out of control, whereas he thinks he is in control of himself and his actions. We see in BC that he is, to some degree, but then it all falls to pieces in The Ringer and at various points beyond that.

Just another reason why the whole storyline didn't work. Interesting idea but the execution was a disappointment. A tortured teenaged vamp could have been a far more convincing mini-Mick but this aspect of the episode failed on many counts.

The entire teen vamp situation should have been unbearably sad. And the problem was, I think the writers were too heavy-handed in wanting to get that reaction. It was all a bit too much. Yes, the hair, the awkwardness, the loneliness, the poor skin...we got it. Really, a couple of those things would have been plenty.

However, I didn't view it as a sex thing at all, so much as him wanting to have teenage experiences with a girl. He just wanted to date, hang-out, more than have sex. Unfortunately, due to the way he looked, the only way he could 'date' would be to actually purchase it! And there lies the conundrum. The hookers aren't interested in dating, the teen vamp is, and then, he gets pissed, they get killed, Mick and Beth enter the picture. They could have handled it all a bit better. There could have been some moments that really tugged at our heartstrings for the kid, instead, I just shuddered every time they gave him a close-up.

I still loved the episode for all of the other moments: Josef, Beth making the calls, anytime Mick was on-screen.

I am easy to please. :ysmile:
