NONE of the medical shows got an editor's pick. Methinks the TV Guide editors simply don't like medical shows. I'm not gonna cry in my beer just yet. (It's too early for beer anyway, here in the Pacific timezone.)

Actually they did not pick any CBS shows at all... is this meant to be a prediction of success or the editor's personal shows of interest?

Cause NCIS part deux is virtually guaranteed to be a hit... as is that Good Wife given it's time slot... so eh. 3R has a tougher time slot but hopefully with the 3 different fan bases, it becomes something of a hit anyway and then pfffffffttttttt to the critics, period.

"You study and read a lot and practice: Hypertrophic myopathy, hypertrophic myopathy," O'Loughlin said, reciting a term from the episode currently in production. "There's so much to learn, even just to get off the ground and be convincing when you say the words. And, you know, the whole time we were in Pittsburgh, and before that as well, I was into medical journals and I was on the phone, and I was researching all night."

'Hypertrophic myopathy'? Yikes, can you imagine what a pain in the neck it's going to be for him to memorize lines with these words all over the place?

As much as I love Alex and wish him great success in anything he does, I just can't get myself psyched up about another hospital drama. I know that lots of folks love these shows, but it just seems like they've been done to death. If it were anyone else but Alex on here (except JD, of course) I would never bother to watch.

I just don't find doctors (as a whole) sexy, I guess...

Hopefully, Alex will change my mind..

Oh I am totally only watching this sucker because of Alex... I didn't even watch ER, so I agree with you honey...

...and I think we don't find doctors particularly sexy cause in RL they rarely are... but Dr. Yablonsky will be sexy... he can't help but be sexy.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, HCM or HOCM, is a disease of the myocardium (the muscle of the heart) in which a portion of the myocardium is hypertrophied (thickened) without any obvious cause.[1][2][3][4][5][6] It is perhaps most famous as a leading cause of sudden cardiac death in young athletes.[7] The occurrence of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a significant cause of sudden unexpected cardiac death in any age group and as a cause of disabling cardiac symptoms.

A cardiomyopathy is a primary disease that affects the muscle of the heart. With hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), the sarcomeres (contractile elements) in the heart replicate causing heart muscle cells to increase in size and so the heart muscle to thicken. In addition, the normal alignment of muscle cells is disrupted, a phenomenon known as myocardial disarray. HCM also causes disruptions of the electrical functions of the heart. HCM is most commonly due to a mutation in one of 9 sarcomeric genes that results in a mutated protein in the sarcomere, the primary component of the myocyte (the muscle cell of the heart).

While most literature so far focuses on European, American, and Japanese populations, HCM appears in all racial groups. The incidence of HCM is about 0.2% to 0.5% of the general population.
