One of the most famous ER episodes was Love's Labor Lost, about a difficult birth in the ER that resulted in tragedy for all, including Mark Greene. It was a wonderful, Emmy-winning hour of television.
It was written by Lance Gentile who also wrote this week's TR episode, The Luckiest Man, so I think we can be positive about the quality of writing this week. With Mandy's guest spot too, I'm feeling hopeful that this could be a great episode.

That episode of ER was the reason I started watching ER. That was one of the best episodes in TV I've ever seen. I ended up watching ER for the next four seasons or so. I'm really looking forward to this episode. I'm thinking Mandy gives his heart to someone we know.

Oh my gosh--that is a truly lovely scene. And I take back everything I said earlier about Mandy overacting. I think he did a perfect job here. That's just...
Now I'm really looking forward to Sunday's episode.

and for once, there's no wretched CBS game late afternoon football game being shown on the US east coast.
What a combination: a great story, a wonderful guest star, and an on-time start.....this should be fun!!

And I'm right there with you, Lucky.
This is their finest hour.
And Dr. Andy has flaws . . .

No wonder it was so frickin' good. Fabulous dialogue. And really got to the heart of the issues they covered (no pun intended).

Yeah... still waters run deep. Andy's got some stuff going on. Tho how cool that Miranda was right with him... kinda two peas, ya know?
What an ep! I didn't cry, but I teared up. That's pretty intense for me. When the daughter said good bye. Oy! And a little teary when Andy had his revelation and guy-slapped hands with Victor... and you could see Andy's green bracelet. And ARGGGHHHHHH! No frikkin heart for Kuol!!!
Dark's prediction about him is starting to scare me...
And...

... because it's me and y'all seem to put up with my anyway... I'll go to the shallow end of the pool for just a moment... Alex looked particularly fine tonite. Don't know if it was the hair cut... the depth of the character tonite... the shirt... dunno. But he just looked really fine.

I agree that this was the best one yet...as for Andy looking fine, he did. But there were moments when he looked like any man would whose patient just decided to end it all. The struggle to understand was real, genuine.
Loved the tirades in the conference room as the staff decided whether to allow Victor to donate as he wished. Really loved the one-on-one between Sophia and Andy, when she asks him if he's 'playing God'. His answer sent chills through me, though. I he can't see it, touch it, smell it, he can't believe in it. At the end of the episode, though, he's beginning to wonder.
Miranda and Daniel both had good screen time and each grew a little as doctors tending to their patients.
The high point had to be the conversation between Victor and Kuol....the gift of laughter is a precious one to someone in pain and the interaction between the two actors was wonderful to watch. Each week, I love Kuol more and more, and I hope I'm wrong about his fate.
As for the shirts, grace, did you notice Andy sneaked in a striped one on you

I really liked Andy tonight. Alex seemed to underplay him at the right time; I really liked the quieter approach at the end. Dr. Lee did really well too. Sophia and Miranda seemed kind of light - do you suppose that's because they had so much drama last week?
Kuol is so teddy bear lovable

; I agree that could mean trouble for him.

I've cried at some of the other episodes, but I was sobbing at the end of this one!
This one was all around terrific!
