I hadn't seen the extended promo before and it has more emotion in it than the whole first four or five episodes of what they ended up airing.

I know it's all water under the bridge now but I can't help but be a little sad and a little mad.

That's the exact same clip they showed at the Donate Life Film Festival thing last summer... I saw it then and went, "hmmmmm... this could be really good!" And then stupid CBS took all the teeth out of the show... Miranda got softer and less angry, Andy got wimpier... sigh.

Oh well, c'est la vie.

It IS a total puzzle isn't it? :dizzy:
As with ML... who did the de-teething? CBS execs? The producers?? A combination?
I know the critics savaged this episode when they saw it... but sometimes ya gotta stand behind your product... improve upon it in subsequent eps maybe, but stand behind it. Your original vision is probably the way to go. And ANYONE who does entertainment for a living shoulda known the direction they took it in was wrong wrong wrong. Even more confusing to me.

So it's frustrating, cos I think ALex really liked playing Andy. But it is what it is now. I'm delighted to see this and the final four on the tv. And since H50 is getting such raves, I'm cautiously optimistic for it. That's all I got.

I agree with others that this seemed to be a better episode (Guess we'll find out tomorrow!)

But I have to say i preferred the lower key "beer in the cooler" ending that did show. The Miranda and Andy only ending was a little too corny for me. And I like how everybody came out and supported Miranda.

Mmmmm.... I wonder what Carol Barbee is doing these days? Looking at Google news, I guess she's playing bridge. :snicker: :snicker:

I have to agree with y'all, this episode had a much more realistic feel to it. We'll know more tomorrow night, but based on what the extended promo shows, there was less emphasis on the techno-gadgetry. Maybe the de-teething, as grace puts it, came as TPTB thought the audience would be more entranced by the toys than the characters and the stories. Frankly, I found them annoying.

NCIS LA was launched the same time as 3R and was also heavily laden with the gee-whiz techno-toys helping them find the bad guys. While they're still a part of the episodes, they're less emphasized than they were in the beginning.

Maybe somebody learned something.

Only other thing I noticed was that Andy seemed more relaxed than what we saw in the series. I agree, Miranda was softened too much. Couldn't really tell with Daniel. As for 'Sponge-Bob', he looked as stiff and out of place in the original pilot as he did in the show.

From the CBS website (so lovely to see Dr. Andy front and centre) although it's annoying that they haven't borthered to change the "Sundays 9/8c" in the frame  - click on the pic for a link to the video:

:giggle: It is good to see... tho the blurb is still describing Place of Life.

So, does this happen for all CBS shows or only the ones they don't care about??

ETA: A link to a TVG promo for 3R and H50... well, and they also talk about other shows, but ya know, who cares?? :snicker:

thanks for the link, sweetie  They managed to get all of Alex's TV characters shown, even though Kevin Hiatt and Mick St. John weren't mentioned by name. I guess the commentator missed the fact that Daniel Dae Kim was on 'Angel' as well, but not having watched the show, I don't know if he was a vamp or not.

No, no, no - much darker, more nefarious, more evil, more depraved....

He was a lawyer.

I only recognised him on Angel (and hence remembered him) because quite a few years ago he had a fairly small role as the son of a murder victim in NYPD Blue - he was amazingly good and really made such an impression that I'd watched out for other things he was in.

I had to go look on IMDB for DDK's role, but now I remember him. He was good! Very scaaary lawyer. And later, a zombie. :snicker:

I hope CBS doesn't continue to mix promos for Three Rivers and Hawaii Five-O. It's jarring... going from the caring, serene feel of the TR to the bouncy, loud, action-packed H5O, all in the space of 30 seconds, does not work well, at least not for me.

Now, doing lots of promos for Hawaii Five-O DURING Three Rivers... that makes sense to me.
