What I love about that outfit is that he was new to the scene (probably not flush with money to afford designer, stylish duds) so, he probably raided his closet to put together an outfit that was very him.
Compare that look to his red carpet duds now. He's matured, has some money in his pocket.

I like both the past and present looks.
