Re: No Such Things As Vampires (Episode One)
Thank you all so much!!!
Great information! Now that I have heard some of that, I understand how it has been incorporated into some amazing fanfics.
I would definitely have buried CBS with letters had I known about Moonlight. I even had a couple of friends who tried to clue me in on it--saying that 'you have GOT to check this show out. It is SO amazing...' but I didn't. Bummer.
Yes, and I have been told, 'I told you so' many, many times. What can I say--I deserve it.
If hindsight were foresight.
About the 'smell the past and glimpse the future thing' - it never really bothered me. Because of the extremely sensitive sense of smell, they could gain so much detailed information that they could practically 'smell the past' As to glimpse the future, I just accepted it as a side effect of the increased brain power (senses are heightened and probably intelligence, too. Maybe preternatural abilities like precognition, as well.) I always thought a LOT could have been done with this. A glimpse of MickBeth's future--maybe with Beth flashing fangs or a scene where it looked like she was killed, and it turns out that she isn't. Or of MickBeth with kids around them calling them Mommy and Daddy. Possibiities are endless.
Werewolves. Can you imaging Josef's 'well, OK but keep them off the furniture' jokes. I actually think they could have handled it and kept it fresh for us.

Re: No Such Things As Vampires (Episode One)
If Mick had been able to glimpse the future, they couldn't have (I used spoilers just in case, since I'm using an example from a later episode).
I'm not a huge fan of a lot of the suggested plotlines for season 2, but since we really only have general ideas, it's hard to know how they would have gone. Who knows, maybe they would have been better in execution than "on paper"...then again, maybe not. I liked the plotline of having Josh investigating Mick, which they ended up ditching. I think that was how they were going to bring the Legion in, though. Meh. I think I might have preferred the Legion to werewolves, though (besides, can you imagine the makeup/costume costs involved? No wonder CBS was not a fan!).

Re: No Such Things As Vampires (Episode One)
A long time ago somebody told me that there was a "rule" that there should be only ONE supernatural/extraordinary element or premise per show. So vampires plus werewolves plus an organized group to hunt them (I don't believe in conspiracy theories - the more people involved, the more they'll mess things up) would have been too much. I'm only willing to suspend my disbelief for so much.. And a "Legion" would have been another parallel to the Highlander series - and there's enough of them already...

I think the glimpse thing means that he may see only a little bit and not always when he wants to.

Re: No Such Things As Vampires (Episode One)
I brought out my dvds and watched Episode One tonight. In reality I've probably only seen each episode of Moonlight four or five times. I had forgotten so many things. I didn't remember we saw the Baby Beth rescue in Episode One. It still drives me crazy that Coraline got up after being staked. I also liked how Mick underestimated Beth's observation skills at the end.
"I saw the knife come out."
He probably should have changed his shirt with the gaping hole.
I think I'll treat myself again to the series.

Ohhhh, he looked so handsome in the interview segment. He didn't really act Mick-like, but... who cares?

Maybe it's easier to keep things altogether.
