Susie - I haven't heard of a blue-tinted bulb. Is this something that's readily available or only through specialty retailers, I wonder?
Personally, I'd take the print home, hang it up and see how it looks before you buy something you may not need at all.

The framer says he has the bulbs in stock, but I'm like you, Lilly, I think I'm just going to take the print home and not be hooked into buying something I most likely don't need. Thanks!

VAsusieQ18 wrote:Well, I'm suppose to pick up my framed print this weekend from the framer's. While talking to him on the phone, he mentioned something about using a "blue tinted bulb" to bring out the colors. Has anyone every heard of a "blue tinted bulb"?

My other paintings/prints just have a low flourscent blub over them. When I asked, he said that paintings/prints that use a lot of dark and light painting to contrast each other are beautiful, but sometimes the light painting gets dulled down by the darker paint, and vise-versa, the dark paint looks even darker with the light. He says the "blue tinted bulb" will make the dark paint a bit brighter. So, is he pulling my leg?

Susie, some companies here sell light bulbs that are labeled either "warm" or "cool". The warm one is similar to sunlight, and the cool one is a very bright, "blueish-white" light. I have noticed that some colours look quite different under the new "cool" light than they do in normal daylight, (or with the old light bulbs).

So.... after arranging for delivery of my print on Saturday, circumstances dictated that I wouldn't be home to collect it so I missed the delivery

but I finally got my hands on my print today

and it was so worth the wait. It is absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait til I can frame it and put it on display.
