Hear, hear, PNW! My thoughts exactly. Let's not forget, kids, that his beauty is created by the soul and the talent that resides inside that decorative exterior. That's what makes him so compelling. And J.Lo. is capable of generating plenty of sparks her own spunky self. I have faith that, with good direction and a good script, they'll hit this one out of the park and it will be great for both of their careers.

And I wanted to say, Raven, what a great note that was...as a fan, I'm proud to have you as a spokeswoman for me. :rose:

Personally, I love being on the "ground floor" of Alex's career, so to speak. Yeah, he's real pretty, but he's also damn talented and THAT'S what I hope peeps see when they watch him - that he deserves to be successful because of how hard he works to perfect his craft. Pretty faces are a dime a dozen in Hollywood - Alex's talent will set him apart.

He's got nowhere to go but up and I'm going to be there every step of the way.
Agree totally.

But can I still be a lioness? I like that better than cougar any day.

A lioness.....I like that idea. ;) We can be Alex's pride of protective females. :snicker:

As for this movie, the only thing I think it's going to do is get him noticed. This isn't the type of film that will garner him critical acclaim, but it will get his face recognized and get his name out there. A great stepping stone to harder hitting, award winning films. So in Hollywood terms he may have to play the "pretty" card for at least now and then WOW them with gut-wrenching, eyes glued performance later.

Go Alex!! :cheer:

I realize Alex isn't going to win an Oscar by doing a romantic comedy with Jennifer Lopez - he's definitely still a "take what work comes along" actor. I still hope that people can look at the beautiful face and body and realize there's a talented actor behind those things. For example, I never in my wildest dreams thought a pretty boy like Johnny Depp could be such a versatile actor, or that when I used to watch Tom Hanks do stand-up that he also could do such wonderful dramatic work.

Getting his name out there is important. Fans appreciating the hard work and talent is just as important.

I totally agree, PNW. What i hope will come of this film is people discovering Alex for the first time and then delving into his other performances just as so many of us did after viewing Moonlight for the first time. All you have to do is see his vaired roles to get an idea that there is soooooo much more below that beautiful surface. Hopefully this new flock of fans will search out what else he's been up to over the years and be duly impressed.

As you said, who would have guessed what an actor like Tom Hanks was capable of after seeing Splash for the first time? Or Johnny Depp after seeing 21 Jump Street? Let's just hope that this role opens many more doors for Alex. That's what I see as the real win for him if this movie gets some attention (plus having a romantic comedy under his belt not hurting either!).

We've seen Alex do so many roles already, I'm ready to see the comic side (he's a ham in real life, this should be easy for him. LOL)! He's been a psycho, lovable everyman, questionable cop, dorky Southern cop, bad guy, good guy with bad past, vampire with a heart of gold, serial killer with depth in CM and a doctor in 3 Rivers.

Talk about versatile!

You know, he'd be smokin' hot in drag! :evillaugh: I'd still pay to see him in high heels and a very short skirt! :snicker:

And before I fall too far down into the gutter, let me echo what PNW and sirensong just posted. Our guy needs a break and this movie with JLo could be the exposure he needs to start getting offers for more serious roles, more in keeping with his excellent education in the finer arts of acting at NIDA.

Ditto! Raven, you got my vote. Now, can someone teach me how to ride a rocket?

BTW, the other commenters are good also. Very nice, polite and succinct. Y'all know who "Mandy H" is, right? In case you don't, it's MoonMad. :cheer: I recognize the others also... Nice round of applause. :clapping:

All true... but ya know, romantic comedy does not necessarily mean the acting skills won't get noticed. Do not most actors say comedy is harder to pull off than drama? If the movie is successful at all, people will notice his talent.

And did not Amy post... or was it Alle or Siren or Susan... sorry I cannot recall which one of you In-the-know types found THAT article... that the script for this movie won some sort of good-script award? So if the material is considered good, all the better for showing off the acting chops...

But in a romantic comedy, being a knock-out, Greek god-type doesn't hurt for setting the scene...

Grace, I can't remember her name, but it was a brand new member over on VLF that posted a link to an article that listed "Back-up Plan" as one of the best scripts for 2008. But since the site is down, I can't go back over there and find out. Sorry!

I believe it was Amyvil who posted about the script as well.

Comedies can, on occasion, get an actor some attention, but I don't think it happens very often. Hugh Jackman got a lot of notice for Kate & Leopold, but I think that's because it was such a different role and he portrayed an 18th century gentleman so well. But who knows, right? I'm just hoping that it's a success!

All comments are polite but Raven's rocks :rose:
And the article about the script is from "Black List"

Great comments on the article. It was pointed out that CBS had a holding deal with Alex all year and CBS wouldn't do that with just any actor, new or not! That tells her that the "experts" realize what they had in Alex. Hell, they realized it when they first put together ML and fired everyone BUT Alex.

I don't think a rom com alone is usually a big Emmy award-winning movie but it is clearly a stepping stone for Alex. This can be looked at two ways. They may want to pair up Alex with a known actress (because like it or not she IS known) to boost his career; or you could say that they brought in a great, hot talented actor like Alex to boost J Lo's career. It may work for both. :yahoo:

If Alex gets TR also, then the TV + 2-movie combo may get our man out there finally where he belongs. :hyper:

I just hope when he hits major stardom (cuz he WILL) he still remembers his ML fans and remains accessible to us. :grouphug:

:thanks: Alex for loving your fans the way you have! You are one of a kind, for sure! :cloud9:
