Just a question as I don't know how ratings/watersheds work in the US, but is CM suitable for airing @ 8pm?

Given the subject matter and the level of violence that's shown on a usual episode of CM, it's doubtful they would air during the "family" hour.

Hopefully the President keeps it short and sweet - or I'm gonna have to vote Republican in the next election.

Agreed. The good news is that they do have a week to figure this out and let us know. If this was an impromptu news conference, we might have somebody flipping a coin at the last minute as to what to show or not show.

The other thing to consider is that we're entering into sweeps time. From the promo, it seems that CBS wants to showcase Alex and that may help decide how to best re-arrange the schedule. If people tune in at 9 expecting to see Alex in a CM episode, and they see the President, my guess is that a lot of them will tune out and may not come back to see if the episode is just delayed.

I just hope that for once, Alex (and the rest of us) catches a break.

I disagree WF. I think he wanted to change his glasses because he knew he was going to kill her and needed the ones to film it.
It'll be interesting to see whether that's true or not.

FYI: CM was scheduled to air at 8pm CST--in my area. So, I doubt they would move it back, being that would then air at 7pm. The last few presidential press conferences were held at 7pm or 8pm here. I imagine that will still be the case, and that regularly scheduled programs would then follow.

Often they just go with regularly scheduled programming after the Prez; everything would be pushed back an hour or more... and they will advertise that week that it will come on after the press conference. It is mostly an issue in the East... so maybe we'll just get it later....

The *itch is, this will screw with the dvr'ing of the ep.... grrrrrrrrrrrr! Cause that's kinda important.

Can't you do a manual record instead of an automatic one? Or perhaps DVR a couple of hours, just to be on the safe side.

Oh yes, I can manually record... it just means i gotta really be watching when the Prez biz is over... cause i don't want to miss a single second of the CM thing... I'll have to be right there with the flicker thing, hitting record.... and as I may have mentioned, my household is chaotic... but the little one will be in bed and the other ones will have to leave me alone that night so my trigger finger can do its job...

Just wanted to thank Susie for her informative post a few pages back. Susie, the case that springs to mind, as far as a serial asking to be stopped, is William Heirens, in Chicago, in the 1950s. I think that one really did stand out because of his request, made via a note written on a wall, in lipstick. (If I'm recalling correctly.)

On my DVR you can set it to record "Criminal Minds" all new episodes; and I can even add as many minutes as I want before and after each show. Of course, that is NOT infallible. If they don't reset the TV Guide with the new times for CM, it will record at the wrong time.Hopefully this will be done because they have a week to fix things.

I think the safest thing to do is manually record. Just record it when it happens. Then you are safe.

I can record 2 shows at once so I will set it both ways. Better safe than sorry!
