Haha, thanks so much, Mitz! (You and Lions should have an emoticon war one day).
You're right, poor Carl kind of got the tables turned around on him, but that doesn't mean he didn't get any useful information...

Great update! You did a wonderful job of capturing Josef's snarkiness, and underlying threatening demeanor.
Yes, Carl, I believe you better watch your back!

Perfect scene, Julie. Poor Carl - if only he knew, he didn't stand a chance. He thought he would be the one in control, oh how foolish....
And I *loved* Josef here. Perfect. Snarky, scary and totally in control - of himself and the situation.
Wonderful.

Ah yes, the plot thickens. Of course the vampires weren't as oblivious to what the humans were doing as it appeared. It's really interesting how you do this story mainly from the pov of humans, so we know what they know -- and then have no idea what the vamps are up to until they do.
I like that Carl has a big part in this story, too. I love him as a character but he's under utilized both on the show and in fanfic (which I'm guilty of myself, I just rarely find a way to feature him).

Thanks so much, Catmoon! I'm glad you're liking it.
I made a conscious decision when I started writing this story that it would be told from Carl and Josh's perspectives (Carl ended up taking over a little more; I guess Josh backed down a little because he got a little more screen time on the show
) and so there would be no scenes in which one or both of them weren't present--meaning we wouldn't know how or even if the vampires were dealing with the investigation until something happened to reveal it. Mick couldn't really do anything about the glass at the time--he knew Carl had been up to something, but didn't know what, and had no valid reason to detain or question Carl himself, and didn't want to make things worse. He didn't realize until after Carl left that he'd stolen a glass. Mick obviously told Josef about it, and when Carl ended up coming to Josef, Josef thought he'd try to intimidate Carl into backing down. He must have been having an off day; it didn't work...
I did like Carl in the show, too, and it was a shame when he just disappeared from the latter episodes. Heck, it was a shame the whole show disappeared, but that's another thing entirely...

I love this chapter. Josef is so great, snarky, threatening, not revealing anything, keeping his hand close, helping his friend out and not giving Carl anything to work with. Lovely.

Thanks so much, Francis! Glad you liked.
But Josef may actually have given Carl something to work with, whether he realizes it or not...

lol I love this chapter, I can read it multiple times but this line will always be my favorite:
Classic Josef! I can so see him saying that!!“Fine—you got me.” Josef held out his wrists. “Spank me, officer.”

Tee hee, thanks so much, Wingz! I'm pleased it holds up under multiple re-reads. Glad you like the line--I could see him saying it, too.
