I think Mick avoiding her makes her that much hotter for him.

A guy sits alone in the dark on his laptop. His place is a bit eery.

Image

He's on an escort website, looking through the offerings.

Image

He picks one, prints out the info and gives her a call.

Image

He must have made a date with her but next we see him showing up at her door.

Image

The girl gets a look at him and rejects him. She tells him to run along. The guy says that her picture is a lot prettier than she is and he busts in.

Image

Beth is at work, studying her computer. Maureen comes up to her

Image

Beth has been looking at a recipe for chicken in a reduction sauce for her anniversary dinner.

Image

Maureen hands Beth info on a murder with a "very distinctive MO". Beth is excited - say she's all over it. Maureen says that the degree that Beth likes this stuff almost makes her uncomfortable.

I love how quickly Beth anticipates Mick's thought process...and once again, they are having a wordless conversation of sorts. That's one thing that was so striking to me in the early episodes...the wordless communication between Mick and Beth. That was the beauty of the refusal to acknowledge my powerful attraction to you phase of their relationship. Too bad the show didn't play that up more and for a longer period of time. That was the best Alex/Sophia chemistry, for me...it dissipated as the show went on.

Of course since CBS canned the thing after 16 eps... we'd've had no sorta conclusion had they toyed with one another longer... so it's a mixed blessing, eh?

But that early relationship was fascinating...

Yet that annoying woman with the baby carriage that tripped Mick and who seemed all put out about it... what was HER problem? A man looking like that trips across your baby? Use it, for P's Bob's sakes; get a name, a conversation, something out of it! Missed opportunity.
THE WOMAN PUSHED THE BABY CARRAGE N FRONT OF HIM, TO STOP HIM, FOR THE

CONVERSATION, BUT MICK WAS SCENTING OUT BETH..HE KNEW SHE WAS SOMEWHERE

VERY CLOSE..... :clapping:

Lovely analysis, Raven and you're quite correct. I very much love the way the two of them say so much with no words at all. I also love how un-subtle they are about it (yeah, I know it's not a word). Josh picks up on it big time - I think that's where the invitation to dinner came from. Josh was very quick to point out that it was his and Beth's anniversary.

(Lucky, please ask Josef to STOP making me type his name when I'm trying to type "Josh"! :eyes: )

Personally I think Josef has a point... just sayin'.

Mick did look unbelievably hot in this epi. *yes, blue is shallow too* BTW he wears the same leather jacket, blue jeans combo in FTP. regular shirt tho...not that I watch a lot of ML or anything. The unspoken communication here is just rich. Sexual tension anybody? :2cents: :giggle:

Ah, looking at that last screen cap makes me realize I miss Maureen! I liked Tami Roman's portrayal as Beth's boss at Buzzwire. I thought they had a great dynamic, especially in this episode.

Maureen: "You know, the degree you like this stuff almost makes me uncomfortable." :snicker:

Last night I actually re-listened to Tami Roman's interview on Moonlight Buzzwire Radio, from last July. That was a great interview, Tami was very honest and had a lot of insight. The part that still cracks me up is when she says, "listen, Alex is hot. I'd jump his bones if he was walking to his trailer and no one would think it was me."

Side note: we can count at least one new Moonlight fan in Hawaii, as I've convinced my mom to tune in every week. I call her right before 9pm every Friday, just to make sure she is watching! In Hawaii, Moonlight is on at the same time as the West Coast (7pm local time).

Yay for Jinian's Mom!!

I never heard any of the interviews with Tami Roman but, like you, I was really sorry to see Maureen go. I thought she was great. If Beth was pushy than Mo was cutthroat.

Well... look at it this way... she'd've been fired in another couple weeks anyway...

Another part of the interview I enjoyed was when Tami talked about how once she found out that Maureen was going to be nixed, she had tried to push for Maureen to come back as a vampire! :snicker: Well, Maureen will live on in fan fiction, hopefully.

I guess what I miss more than Maureen, is the idea of buzzwire. It was kind of a part of Beth's identity, and especially in "Arrested Development" I thought it really shaped a lot of Beth's character, as this smart, tenacious, "hard-hitting" journalist. I guess I am attracted to that idea because, well, in the real world journalism and the news is so watered down and full of falsities. Beth wasn't just a gutsy news reporter though, I liked that her path always seemed to accidentally cross Mick's. This episode was cool because it was about fate, and about two different people following entirely different paths but meeting at the same place.

A husband and wife visit Mick and ask him to find their daughter.

Image

She was a small town beauty who came to the big city to 'make it'. And she disappeared. Mick thinks to himself that he used to find such girls dancing in bars or being kept by men three times there ages. But he's been hearing stuff lately.

Image

Her parents heard from people that she was on the internet as an escort. They hand Mick the printed ad. It's the same one that the murderer printed.

Image

Mick promises them that he'll find their daughter.

Image

Beth shows up at the crime scene with her photographer. She sends him to get pictures while she climbs under the tape to get a better look.

Image

She peeks into the room. They are bagging the body and she scours the scene.

Image

She's caught by Carl who, as usual, isn't thrilled to see Beth at the scene of a crime.

Image

She wants to know why there is FBI involved. Is it the same escort killer from San Francisco? Or a copycat? Carl doesn't answer but tells Beth she needs an 'off-switch'. Carl should know better. Now Beth is really intreged.

Image

Mick goes to visit Josef who told Mick he would help him out. First Josef wants to discuss Mick's 'reporter friend'. Mick just smiles and tells Josef he knows her name.

Image

Josef wants to know how it's been going since 'happy hour'.

Image

Micks says fine.

Image

Ahhh. Josef knows his friend. He knows that 'fine' means Mick has been avoiding her. He tells Mick he's a romantic in the abstract but the reality of fang on flesh....

Image

Image

Mick interrupts him and reminds Josef that he said he would help him find the missing girl.

http://s14.photobucket.com/albums/a319/ ... HelpMe.jpg

Josef brings Mick's attention to the other guy in the room. Mick asks if the guy is Josef's new valet. Josef says that the guy is a maestro of all things telephonic. Ryder England.

Image

The guys get up to join Mr. England. Josef introduces them. Ryder says he heard Mick is looking for someone.

Image

Ryder ribs Mick a bit about finding an escort. He asks if the girl broke Mick's heart. Mick responds "no, her parents." He gives Ryder the internet ad.

Image

Image

Image

Ryder goes to work looking for the girl's address.

Image

He finds the site from which the ad was printed.

Image

He browses through the escorts. Mick and Josef are a bit startled that this is how escorts now work.

Image

They discuss how these things used to work in the good ol' days.

Image

Ryder finds the girl's address.

Image

Mick thanks them and takes off.

I find it interesting that there's been relatively little discussion regarding this ep... and that the preponderance of posts, other than GA's wonderful pics and caption summaries, have been about how Mick looks in this ep... which WAS amazing and, granted, some of the superficiality is my fault as that's what I've posted about (surprise!!)...

At any rate, I am wondering if folks have just been busy elsewhere, or if there is some other reason that this ep hasn't generated much conversation so far...

And not complaining or grumbling in any way... or expecting anything else. I just noticed it and wondered if there was a reason....
