They are, and I'm grateful, but it's CBS that we need feeling the true love... just saying, and wishing and hoping...

They are, grace. They are.
I need to get them to pinkie swear, then we will be okay for sure!

I couldn't agree more, mm. It still amazes me that our "little" show, with so much potential, got the hook when all the rest of these "so-so" shows keep going on like the Energizer bunny..sad really..when that's what the paying public seems to gravitate to..
Wouldn't you think the masses would like to be intellectually stimulated once in awhile??

they would, if they came out of their stupor long enough to know they've been stupefied....

The CBS audience does skew older than the other networks, especially Fox, and it seems they're into the procedurals which is why CBS has so many of them. I think CBS will get a little more adventurous this year with their lineup seeing how NBC is putting on Jay Leno at 10 p.m. every single night Monday through Friday (which I think is a horrendous idea).
CBS could move some of their sure fire shows to the 10 p.m. hour (such as Criminal Minds and The Mentalist) and bring in fresh blood at the 9 p.m. hour. If I were CBS, I would sandwich Three Rivers between NCIS and The Mentalist, schedule the Good Wife on Wednesdays after two female centered comedies (New Adventures of New Christine and the new Jenna Elfman comedy, Accidentally on Purpose) and follow with CSI: NY. I would put Back on Friday nights after Ghost Whisperer and before Numbers. And maybe add a couple more comedies on Saturday nights, have Washington Field after that and 48 hours to round out the night.
Do I think all of that is going to happen? No. I think at the most we'll see 3 new dramas and 3 new comedies. Why rock a boat that is sailing so steadily?

Why indeed? (BTW, I like your lineup....)
Two other factors are coming into play here that hadn't really before that might affect that smooth sailing ship....
A lot of their successful dramas are getting a bit long in the tooth (except of course, one that should have and had the teeth to prove it). I plead guilty to watching some of these and have for a long time. But some of them are beginning to lose what attracted me to them in the first place - an engaging story. They've become repetitive and in some cases, silly. Cast changes have affected the chemistry of other shows. So maybe some of the long running dramas may come to an end....only to be replaced by spin offs of themselves.
The other factor is cost...even the more successful shows are being challenged to cut costs or be cut.....but if they cut costs, what is the impact to the quality of the show? Poorer scripts is certainly a possibility.
It will be interesting, if not a bit scary, to see what May 20th brings...

Dark, you are so right... although still popular, I swear some of these shows were running along with Gunsmoke! When they drop, I think they'll drop like a stone in a pond. ANd I had watched some of them, but no more. And beyond the first CSI, I never DID go. And I don't watch that one anymore... and haven't for a couple years...
And yeah... scary. Again with the scary!!!!

I agree that a lot of these shows are getting long in the tooth (and becoming more and more expensive with every passing year) but the reality is that they still track well with audiences. They do need to get rid of the more expensive shows that are not performing very well, such as Cold Case and Without a Trace, but the CSIs, and Criminal Minds are still performing very well (even with the huge loss of William Petersen in CSI). And NCIS is getting better numbers than ever (thus the addition of the second NCIS).
Hopefully, the cost cutting will be done in ways that will not diminish the quality of the shows. Only time will tell.
And in the meantime, we wait until May 20th to see whether Three Rivers will sail smoothly into CBS's lineup.
