This story always made me happy that Josef took care of Rory and Rory helped someone in need.

This seems to be my first time reading this one! I really liked it. I'm glad Rory went straight to Josef; she knew what she had to do. Josef recognized her dilemma and her loyalty, and he knew he had to reward her. And the landlady is the real winner.

Thanks for bumping this, MLC! To be honest, I don't think I've read this since it first appeared. And I really like it. You're right--the real winner is the landlady, but Josef and Rory both win, too. Josef wins the prize of knowing that his freshie is loyal to the point of denying herself a fortune in order to protect her vamp... and Rory wins the prize of trust, and being rewarded for loyalty above and beyond. We should all be so lucky.
