I agree with everyone else - this is wonderfully visual. A scene like this could have been so distracting if you had to spend time working out who was where and what they were doing - but this was wonderfully done and incredibly exciting as a result. And I just
loved this line:
librarian_7 wrote:The rock winging out of the night was silent until it struck the horseman next to Roberts in the forehead, with a meaty thunk.
Brilliant.
And uh-oh on the ending...

Perfect sentence, perfect chapter. Now, please save Sally. Penina

Oh my gosh Lucky!! The ending! What a cliffie!!

Sally's in trouble!
Spectacular battle scene! Omg, I LOVED it! Josef and Slade wiped em out--Josef taking down Roberts was just awesomeness, perfect awesomeness.
I hope Sally is okay! Can't wait for the next chapter.

Wonderful job Lucky, action scenes are difficult and you managed this one with flying colors. This story has more cliffhangers than a cactus has spines! Every time it gets delicious it gets prickly, and somebody ends up bloody.
(okay small pun there)
I loved the tie ins, the perfect level of action, narration and imagination, and the fledgling finding his hunger. I like all the others here are eagerly awaiting the next installment.

It's great seeing Slade's perceptions on how everything has changed for him ... wonderfully vivid.
And yikes, that is one heck of a cliff-hanger ....

Josef and Slade make quite the formidable duo - swift, deadly, merciless.
Fantastic.
