I just finished watching. It had great moments. Some stupid things (like how would Andy not know the kid had been given a cardiac telemetry unit?) but generally, it was really good. I agree that the guests were great and that we got some good insights into each of the primary characters' personalities and backgrounds.

This is the 4th episode they filmed, and I feel that they're hitting their stride now. I'm looking forward to hearing more about Andy's misspent youth, and finding out why Sophia felt so strongly that she shouldn't take away her patient's chance at having a baby. (And isn't it fascinating that her decision led to the patient suing her!?) I want to know what Ryan's gonna do to get back at Dr. Lee. And I want to know if the blonde girl gets a heart. :flowers:

ETA: Oh, Lucky--I agree! That's lovely.

I agree about hitting their stride. It had a much easier feel, like everyone's relaxing into their roles a bit. Loved the backstory we're starting to get on all the characters (especially Andy :cloud9: ).

But it was Dr. Jordan who got the best line of the night, "That's why you're not me." Hell yeah! Do not mess with this woman!

I thought it was a pretty good episode. Alex was very good in it, great acting. His line "You've got to be kidding" reminded me of FTP flash drive in the tampon box.

I had some trouble with Scott. Let's put it this way. If your daughter tells you she is in love with a six months clean boy with a dysfunctional childhood.....run.....run very fast and far away! I don't think he was anywhere near where he needs to be for long-term sobriety, too rebellious! So that did tick me off a little. Also the lawyer lady was extremely aggravating and frankly I didn't like the "bad" lawyer stereotype which we see so often.

Now I suppose all these characters had their reasons for acting the way they did....I just didn't have any sympathy, empathy or feelings to the extent I wanted, to the extent a teardrop would fall from my eyes.

Dr. Lee is divine and very dreamy!!! Looks like he has a bruise on his zygomatic arch (upper jawbone) on his right side. It was there last week, too, so perhaps it's a skin discoloration. Just noticed that.

Very nice moment when Andy revealed his trouble past. It worked pretty good for a nice scene, revealing that's why perhaps Andy wanted to give Scott a chance at a new life. Unfortunately the realities of long term childhood drug addiction is daunting. But I guess they touched on that a little bit with the nurse (forget her name) having an experience with an addicted loved one. I thought it was as good as last week's episode. So onward and upward for Three Rivers!

I do wonder if Alex is drawn to this sort of role, because Will Bryant was also a man seeking a new life, and a new start.

Lucky,

it may be a random thought, but it's a good one. There's also Andy's separation from his wife....a marriage that didn't work out the way he wanted.

Has he ever HAD a good marriage on-screen? :snicker:

Well, Mary Briant's husband had a really good wife, and was happy with her even during the rough spots...

Happy couples = death (on screen, at least!) For some reason, everyone wants to see the angst. (I'm guilty of that too..)

As Tolstoy pointed out... "Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." And dramatically, it's much more interesting.

The rumors we heard about the idea he was working on with Simon (I think it was) before TR were about redemption, too. :chin:

In my opinion, episode 3 was the best one so far. I'm not sure if it's Alex settling into this character as much as having to get used to Dr Andy. He's the most understated character that Alex has played to date. It took some getting used to for me. This episode was much less frantic and we got the chance to get to know more about the characters. I hope it continues to improve. I'd like to see Alex get more than a year out of this show.

1. There is no way that anyone could believe that that was anything but a Mick shoutout! Pander away!

2. Alex finally got to chew on some deep emotional scenery: the speech about his wife and the motorcycle. I was very moved (for the first time). It was a perfect moment. I understand now why I loved Mick so much- so many perfect moments strung together.

3. I'm still watching this totally because of Alex. Meanwhile, I wanted to know what happens next. In this ep, it wasn't clear who the donor(s) might be which heightened the tension; it was a bit of a mystery.

4. Feeling a bit gypped by the football game. Alex in action wearing snug-fitting clothes is always a treat. I've been spoiled. Also, just trying to amuse myself as best I can.

5. How come Miranda gets to show tattoos and not Andy?

Wasn't that the Criminal Minds episode? I remember Alex saying at one point that he likes playing "bad guys" as long as they have some redeeming quality...that noone is inherently evil. Something to that effect..

lafluffy, you get a "Hell yeah!" on the tattoos. It would have been perfect. *sniffle*

JIMS and jmc, it wasn't Criminal Minds. There was an entirely separate project that Alex and Simon Mirren were working on (to pitch to CBS, I believe). After the timescale for the pitch passed, we never heard any more about it so we have to assume it came to nothing. Reasons unknown.

*sighs*

I'm now officially hooked on Three Rivers and I don't wanna be.

I felt last night's episode was wonderful - every storyline grabbed me and I was thoroughly engaged for the entire hour. The show just continues to improve!

And - I fell in love last night. I started watching for Alex, have been completely impressed with Katherine Moennig, but last night, I fell hard for Daniel Henney. He was just fantastic last night.

And - lafluffy's right. If that wasn't a shoutout to ML fans last night during that rugby match, nothing was. Although it seemed weird to hear the name "Mick" come out of Alex's mouth. :ysmile:
