Class act.
I did not know TR had been cancelled until I read this blog

so I'm a little shocked at the moment. Alex has never put a foot wrong and always says the most graceful things. He must be so sad right now and I'm sad right along with him. I do admire this man so much. I am a fan and I truly hope we get to see him on TV again soon.

And once again, Alex has shown absolute class and dignity in the face of horribly unfair twists of fate.

This is so very true,
Phee.

I feel so bad for Alex...to have another show canceled and then to respond with such class and dignity.
His break-out hit series is coming to him--it's just a matter of time with an actor of his talent and good looks.

I really do adore Alex SO much. I figured he would blog, but not today. My heart aches for him, but I know he'll find work soon, as will the rest of the cast and crew. They are all super talented and won't be out of work long.
Like y'all were saying, he chooses such unique, interesting, powerful roles, but most viewers want to watch the same old formula TV shows.

I hate to say this, because going from network to cable is looked down upon, but I wish he'd go to USA, FX or something. *ducks*
ETA: Although Matt Bomer went from Chuck on NBC and Traveler on ABC to White Collar on USA...and it's a huge hit!

Yes, what a class act! We all know that Alex will bounce back from this set back. I can't wait to see where he takes us next and, as I've heard somewhere before, its a thrill ride that never ends!

I agree with you. Most of what I watch is on TNT, USA, etc. When you look at shows like Bones, Fringe, White Collar, Burn Notice, The Closer, Monk...none of them seem to suffer from not being on a major network.

Now where'd you hear that,
Suz?
And
WonderChristy! I TOTALLY agree! Cable has great shows, they have more creative license, they are getting a lot of media attention, and they are starting to win all the Emmies... Alex was BORN for cable, IMO... given his preference for quirky and very intense character roles... BORN for cable.
My favorite cable shows are Saving Grace and Rescue Me... Alex would be great in a show like those!!!! He would be AMAZING!
I SO hope the cable people might chat with him...

Gotta agree with you, Christy - some of the best programming out there right now is on cable. I'm sitting here watching my DVR'ed episode of White Collar, which I LOVE.
Grace is right - there's much more leeway on cable and Alex WAS on The Shield...

Speaking of The Shield, I just saw Walt Goggins (Shane) on Criminal Minds (6 Degrees of Alex. LOL). Let me preface by saying, I hate CM, but for some reason I had it down on my calendar to watch it. Don't know who I wanted to see on it, but I turned it off 30 minutes in after not seeing anyone I like. *shrug*
Yeah, cable gives you lots more creativity, which we know Alex has in spades. Feed may not have been for everyone, but his performance was INSANELY amazing and if he takes that level to a show on cable...WATCH OUT!
People may watch the networks quite a bit, but it's cable that gets the most respect, IMO. Nobody would have thought to put Jon Hamm or January Jones on Saturday Night Live, but since Mad Men is a hit....they got to host. One was terrific....the other...not so much.

LOL

No tomatoes are getting thrown here, Christy.

This is a generally tomato-free forum.
I'm quite sure we'd all applaud seeing Alex on ANY channel.
Heck, the "Reading the Phonebook" channel would be fine.

YAY for no tomato-throwing! I don't like tomatoes anyway, although I know they are good for you. LOL
Speaking of reading the phone book...I would love to hear Alex read books on tape.

He could read War and Peace for all I care.
I just don't want him to abandon America and go back to Australia. Of course, our Australian friends would LOVE that (

), but perhaps he SHOULD do movies for a little while and then try TV again later down the road. *shrug* I dunno...just thinking out loud.

I'm sure he's asking himself all of those questions, and a bunch more we can't even imagine. I hope he knows how many people are thinking of him and sending him supportive thoughts...

I think we're safe, Christy.
To borrow one of my mother's sayings, Alex knows what side his bread is buttered on - if he wants to continue to hone his acting craft and be successful, Hollywood's the place to be. He may go back to Australia to lick his wounds (and see his mom - I always call my mom when things suck in my life), but he'll come back - this is where the work is for him.
Yes, his show got cancelled and I'm heartbroken for him, as are all his fans. But he has much to be proud of - he's accomplished so much in the last couple of years and has fans all over the world that love and support him. It's never easy to lose a job, especially one that he's poured so much of himself into...but I think he knows it's the nature of the beast. I totally have faith that something better's going to come along for him!
Edited to finish my train of thought...

I do not, as a rule, do fan mail... but I sent him a Christmas card. Thru the 3R studio 'cause as it turns out, that's his current address... I hope they get flooded with mail for him...

Couldn't agree more.... I wonder if the comment in his blog about returning to Australia for a bit after Moonlight was cancelled is his way of letting people know he may do the same thing again. He's talked about his family a lot and may need some comfort and support that only family can give. He may also need some time to get away from the madness around him.
I, too, hope for something better for him, and while I fully understand the need for 'a little down time', he can't afford to disappear off the scene for too long. Hollywood is a fickle town and his is a tough business.
I just wish him well and hope that he can recover a bit over the holidays.
Pax.
