That's so cool, Em! So glad you were able to get your message to Alex. And he really deserves this award for all his efforts to do good with his celebrity... he sets an example for the rest of Hollywood. Can't wait to see what he said in the interview. Off to watch the videos now. Thanks for sharing, Em.

That is rather a big-@$$ trophy... I wonder, does he actually keep that and take it home? It's huge! Sooooo very Hollywood! :snicker:
But he seems happy, and award-winning becomes him.

Emerald, I am thrilled for both you and Sabine.

I hope it's okay to post these photos capped from the Donate Life Organ Tissue Donation weblog slideshow video.

This is such a worthwhile cause and I have personal experience of how wonderful it can be when there is someone who has checked the box on their license.

I have a friend, a good friend - when I first met him I was astounded at his absolute love for life, his willingness to try almost anything, and his indomitable spirit. When called on to help anyone or any cause, he is always the first in line. Quite simply, I had never met anyone like him before, but then again, I had never met anyone who received a double lung, heart transplant and spent most of his life up until then being so ill that he couldn't live. He was and continues to be an inspiration and I can't imagine the world without him. My license has always had the organ donor designation on it, but after meeting him, I now know why it is so important to do.

Fabulous!

I'm thrilled that Alex was honored in this way. He continues to be seemingly unaffected by his fame and maintains the charm that adds to his attractiveness.

Congratulations to all involved and thanks to Emerald for bringing us up to date

Jenna

OK, hate to swim in the shallow end of the pool in such a meaningful topic, but did anyone else laugh when the fire engine sirens started (in the video of his acceptance speech)? I was thinking, 'Yep, all the female hearts in the room stopped as the women burst into spontaneous combustion when they got a load of this guy - so in comes the emergency crew!'

:giggle:

In regards to Sabine's interview with Alex...

*cross posted from H-50 fans*

Ok, aside from the few questions we did receive from people (which weren't enough to do a full interview), these were the others we came up. So expect any of these to be asked, and a few more as well, depending on how much time Sabine had.

Organ Donation/Donate Life

1) During your time as Ambassador for Donate Life, has their been any one particular incident that has really bought home to you the life affirming importance of Organ Donation?

2) Can you describe in your own words how it feels for you to be a registered Organ Donor, and to have the power to give the Ultimate Gift of Life?

3) What sort of training requirements did you have to undertake in order to become a Donate Life Ambassador?

4) Do you believe agreeing to donate a loved one’s Organs can help the healing process for those left behind?

5) What are some of the biggest myths surrounding Organ Donation that you’ve heard, and what would you say to people to try and alleviate some of their fears?

6) What do you think is the number one thing that stops people from registering to become an Organ Donor? What steps do you think need to be put in place, in order to help that change?

7) What does the future hold in regards to your work with Donate Life? Do you have anything currently in the works?

General ‘Fan’ Questions

1) If Stan, from the Back-up Plan, was a Commedia Dell Arte character, who do you think he would be?

2) How well did your training at NIDA, prepare you for work in Hollywood?

3) Do you consider yourself a Method Actor, or do you feel you work on a more intuitive level?

4) Is it sometimes difficult to shed the skin of a character at the end of the day? Have there been any particular characters you have found hardest to switch off from?

5) If you could choose any role to play, past or present, what role would you choose, and why?

6) Do you, or have you ever read any of the Fan Fiction that has been written about any of the characters you’ve portrayed.

Alex acted surprised when he was accepting the honor. Did he know in advance that he had won?

I don't think so, Lynn. I think they were keeping it a secret until they announced it live at the event.
For drama, you know... dun dun DUNNNNNNNN!!!

I don't know for absolute certain, but I don't think he did. I think his surprise was genuine. :ysmile:

Haha, aww thanks. :blushing:  Actually those questions were all mine, I don't know if Sabine included any of her own, at least she didn't mention anything to me about plans to. I think she was just too busy trying to get organised to go, getting her head around the fact that she was actually going, getting the gift folder for Alex organised, etc etc.

I did have a few questions that I included that I wanted to ask Alex, but those were right at the very bottom of the priority list, so I doubt Sabine got a chance to ask him any of them....

There were 3 serious ones, and one 'cheeky' one... :giggle:

1) Do you know if the similarities between the character of Mick St John, and the character of Sir Francis Varney in James Malcolm Rymer’s 1847 Penny Dreadful Novel, ‘Varney the Vampire’, were mere coincidence, or was there some sort of homage being paid?

2) Had Moonlight continued, out of all the possible character pairings for Mick St John, which one, or ones, would you have been most interested in exploring further?

2) How did they achieve your extremely emaciated look at the end of the movie Feed? What sorts of Special FX and/or Makeup Techniques were involved?

4) In a recent ITN UK Interview you mentioned your idea of a romantic date was to ‘bundle someone into a car, and drive them out into the desert. I’m just wondering, at what point, exactly, did you start taking dating advice from Serial Killers?

Em, I'm hoping she did ask the last one to know what his reaction would be. :giggle:

I'm guessing an out and out laugh or some sort of "Gee I don't get that cultural reference" kind of response.

I'm not sure what that says about our society....Alex is probably thinking driving out to the desert, laying down a blanket, bring out a bottle of wine and watching a meteor shower or something...
