Well, I actually never read Hemingway in English... and it was a while back anyway, so... I'll just have to take your word for it lol! Thank you so much Alle! :rose:

First a confession: I only read Hemingway because it was required in a high school english class. But had I not, the references might not have been as entertaining, although it stands on its own quite well.

Two laugh out loud lines:
allegrita wrote:I tear my shirt with the last of my strength. At least I’ll die with my chest exposed.
and:

allegrita wrote:This ice is ridiculous.
:rolling: Yes, that ice was ridiculous, and thankfully much improved by Cynthia's ice bath in TMC.

Nice parody, Alle!

diane31, thanks for reading it anyway! It's not worth reading Hemingway just to get the references... believe me. :snicker:

Moonlighter, thanks a bunch! :smooch: I'm glad you enjoyed the parody. And yeah, when I think that they ended up buying the expensive kind of ice later on anyway, I really get frustrated about that stupid wax ice. But then again, it gave me a good line, so...

Just read this again and was struck by how well you managed to convey some very good truths about Moonlight between the lines of parody, and sometimes through the lines of parody.

I have to confess that when I first read Hemmingway, I was a kid and did not yet have the maturity to be discerning in my judgment.

Suffice it to say, it is decades down the road now and I found this much more entertaining.

Just sayin'

Thanks!

Jenna

Thanks Jenna! Somehow Mick wouldn't let me be totally frivolous. Just mostly frivolous. :snicker:

I have not felt the slightest desire to reread any Hemmingway over the years, but I just had to reread this.

Wonderful!

Thank you!

Jenna

Never did entirely get Hemmingway.

This, however, I get and it is hilarious.

Nice Job! Thank you, Alle.

Maggatha and Jenna, thank you! I really enjoyed writing this. And I'm glad I did, because it inspired (very s-l-o-w-l-y) me to write a more serious treatment of Mick and Leni in the desert.

But the silly one was way fun. :teeth:
