jen, you know, I didn't know about that little twist myself until I'd written almost to the end of this piece. Writing is such a curiously unconscious process.

Thanks, Lucky. Yeah, I always wanted to know how come Mrs Turner happened upon the one private detective in L.A. who not only had a private connection to the case, but was 'specially equipped' to handle it.

Thanks, Alle. I was so excited that you liked him referring to her that way. Exactly, it feels avuncular. It immediately said to me that this man had no sexual interest in her. It made him safe to be around.

I really enjoyed this story very noir I pictured it in black & white.
