CBS pilot: Three Rivers -- links, articles and discussion

If any of you live in that area, I bet you would have a good chance of seeing him. I bet they will be doing exterior shots--make friends with the entertainment reporters at the local Pitt papers, and see if they can give you a heads up as to where filming will be taking place.

I know that when filming occurs in Chicago, it gets publicized in the paper, or at the very least, someone leaks the info.

I know in some papers they'll list where the shooting will take place in case streets need to be closed off for filming and people need to be aware of possible detours. Sounds like the hospital they're using is closed, so that shouldn't be a problem, but I think they're also supposed to shoot at Duquesne (sp?) University at some point. That would be much harder to keep secret. Maybe try the University Admin office for info.

I think the news report said something about the Duquesne filming starting late next week but I'll have to dig out the tape again to be sure. I know a Prof. at Duquesne who's supposed to give me a heads up if he hears anything but given the large ensemble cast and the 3 POV's, I'm wondering if Alex would even be at the Duquesne shoot or if it's the setting for a different part of the storyline.

Hey MLM, I saw another audition clip on YT for a character (forgot the name) who is friends with Dr. Andy and I believe that scene is set in a bar. So you might want to take your camera, your back-up cameras and the two people to help prop you up, and start making nightly rounds to the local bars.

'Three Rivers' begins local filming

The CBS pilot "Three Rivers" started shooting in Pittsburgh yesterday, turning two locations on Duquesne University's campus into makeshift soundstages.

The pilot episode for a medical drama about transplant surgeons, donors and recipients used the A.J. Palumbo Center and the skywalk connecting the upper campus and Forbes Parking Garage with the Power Center.

"Three Rivers" also will film at Brownsville Tri-County Hospital, a 40-bed facility in Fayette County that closed in February.

"We looked at lots of hospitals, mostly the closed ones. We wanted the impact to be as minimal on the patients as possible," Dawn Keezer, director of the Pittsburgh Film Office, said yesterday.

"Three Rivers" needed access to patient, operating and emergency rooms along with hospital hallways. The 93-year-old Brownsville hospital had been in tangled bankruptcy proceedings before closing Feb. 11.

The production will be in Western Pennsylvania for two weeks and, based on locations and casting calls, dramatize a wedding and possibly a sports-related scene since the Palumbo is home court for Duquesne's basketball teams.

TV veteran Daniel Attias is directing the pilot, written by Carol Barbee and starring Julia Ormond, Alex O'Loughlin, Justina Machado, Christopher J. Hanke, Katherine Moennig and Daniel Henney. "Wonder Boys" director Curtis Hanson is serving as an executive producer.

CBS will announce whether or not "Three Rivers" will become a prime-time series on May 20 in New York. The subject could not be timelier, however, with roughly 101,300 candidates on the waiting list for organs such as kidneys, livers and hearts, according to the United Network for Organ Sharing.

darkstarrising, ITA Alex would so do that, and lynnrxgal thanks for that posting. Oh , just a little history here, if any one kind of wondered why Pittsburgh was chosen for this series, Pittsburgh was the pioneer for organ transplants in this country, I am not 100% sure here, but I do believe they were one of the first in this country to do heart transplants.
