Susie and everyone,

Watching those clips (which were great BTW) brought back such happy thoughts from last year. It certainly was an evening filled with magic! I don't think I was ever so excited to be somewhere; it's actually hard to explain. But we were Soooooo hopeful that night, and then dashed to the ground just two weeks later. Honestly, it has taken me a year to recover. All the talk of Three Rivers, BUP, the upcoming Criiminal Minds, has really helped.

Back to that day, there were about 10 of us in a little SUV on the freeway going to Paley from the hotel. It was about 10 a.m. and the traffic was just crawling. Needless to say, we were packed like sardines and Vampluvinmom adn wondergirl were on my lap. We came up on a police car and all tried to duck down. Of course, there was no room and we were all laughing hysterically. When we got to the Paley Center, it must have looked like a clown car with everyone piling out onto the sidewalk.

It was just a gorgeous day, sunny and in the 70s. I walked with Ginajas to the pharmacy to get the pics and saw all the ruckus with the Britney Spears entourage. The photographers were running up and down the street, jumping over obstacles, with these huge cameras dangling around their necks. Poor girl was trying to go to the bank I think. I did not see her, but watching the paparazzi was actually a hoot.

Russell Crowe apparently walked right past me and I didn't even notice him. When I turned around he was about a half block down the street.

When it got to be about 5 we were all looking for the cast to arrive. Every time an SUV drove by we craned our necks to see who it was. They snuck in the back way, though. I was standing on the curb, looking up at the building (all glass windows) and saw Alex on the second floor looking down. He gave a little wave and I almost had a heart attack! I actually fell off the curb and almost got hit by a car! After that he went downstairs and over to the window.

I will NEVER forget that day! Meeting everyone there, seeing the cast, giving blood, watching the episode, and just laughing til it hurt... pure magic!

Lynn, thanks so much for adding to the Paley joy... *sigh* I wish, wish, WISH I'd been there!!!

To change the subject for a second, I was looking at the Mick thread and noticed something that I'd never noticed before. Alex has something(s) strapped to his calves in the upside-down situps scene (borrowing Lucky's nice big pics that show detail well). Do you guys think these things maybe had wires attached to them for safety?

I'm almost sure that he's wearing gravity boots which strap around the calves and have a hooks on them that are used to hook over the bar. There's no other way he could have been hanging by his feet like that.

Ah--maybe. The only gravity boots I've seen have been hard, and these are soft, so I thought maybe they were safety restraint harness-thingies for the legs. But gravity boots makes sense. I can't see the hooks, but maybe they CGI'd them out, or maybe they are small enough that they just don't show in the dim light. However he did it, that is SUCH a cool sequence that I'm really glad they used it. :hearts: And as somebody(ies?) said in the Mick thread, Alex even has pretty feet! :rose:

Finally scanned my TVG pic and played with it a bit. Had to have a close-up too! :happysigh:

Verra, verra nice, mwj! I do love, love, love that pic! (obviously) :hearts: The only downside to the magazine pic is that you can see the print from the other side of the page. He needs a high quality cover pic so we won't have this problem. Maybe after Three Rivers debuts in the Fall and becomes a smash hit! :yahoo:

I know, I touched it up on his face, but with viewing on a different screen now I see it could use a little more tweaking. :? I didn't bother with the background but I may play some more. Like I have nothing better to do, right? ;)

They had BETTER put him on the cover for TR! :cheering: With another double-page spread inside of course!

If you put a very dark piece of paper or card behind Alex's picture in TVG, it does reduce the amount of print that comes through from the other page, though obviously it won't eliminate it totally

I'd put a small stack of white printer paper behind it but will try the dark.
