Susie and everyone,
Watching those clips (which were great BTW) brought back such happy thoughts from last year. It certainly was an evening filled with magic! I don't think I was ever so excited to be somewhere; it's actually hard to explain. But we were Soooooo hopeful that night, and then dashed to the ground just two weeks later. Honestly, it has taken me a year to recover. All the talk of Three Rivers, BUP, the upcoming Criiminal Minds, has really helped.
Back to that day, there were about 10 of us in a little SUV on the freeway going to Paley from the hotel. It was about 10 a.m. and the traffic was just crawling. Needless to say, we were packed like sardines and Vampluvinmom adn wondergirl were on my lap. We came up on a police car and all tried to duck down. Of course, there was no room and we were all laughing hysterically. When we got to the Paley Center, it must have looked like a clown car with everyone piling out onto the sidewalk.
It was just a gorgeous day, sunny and in the 70s. I walked with Ginajas to the pharmacy to get the pics and saw all the ruckus with the Britney Spears entourage. The photographers were running up and down the street, jumping over obstacles, with these huge cameras dangling around their necks. Poor girl was trying to go to the bank I think. I did not see her, but watching the paparazzi was actually a hoot.
Russell Crowe apparently walked right past me and I didn't even notice him. When I turned around he was about a half block down the street.
When it got to be about 5 we were all looking for the cast to arrive. Every time an SUV drove by we craned our necks to see who it was. They snuck in the back way, though. I was standing on the curb, looking up at the building (all glass windows) and saw Alex on the second floor looking down. He gave a little wave and I almost had a heart attack! I actually fell off the curb and almost got hit by a car! After that he went downstairs and over to the window.
I will NEVER forget that day! Meeting everyone there, seeing the cast, giving blood, watching the episode, and just laughing til it hurt... pure magic!
