I bet they change the name--studios do all kinds of testing with audiences, and if we are any indication----they need a new title!
And I adore Jason Bateman.

Slightly
but I saw Jason Bateman in a small role yesterday in the movie, State of Play. He played an obnoxious, drugged out PR man. And did a great job of it...easy to dislike.

Arrested Development... way funny in that...

And there's gonna be a movie right?
Tho... on topic and all... it won't be as sexy as BUP...

No, Jason isn't anywhere near Alex's sexiness. But he is very funny, snarky and cute.
Alex is just......well, perfect in every way is about the best way to describe him without overdosing on the adjectives.

Just to qualify that with the last name-- she's referring to Jason BATEMAN, Kostan-ites!

Change that to Master and take away the S and By George I think you've got it!!SirenSong wrote:Her costar is Jason Bateman. Funny guy....kinda cute, but he ain't no Alex.Josefismysire wrote:I'd like to know who her male co-star is..and do we get to refer to him as Mr. Baster?

Mr. Baster.....![]()

I'm in the minority here but I think the movie title "The Baster" is hilarious for a comedy. In the world of in vitro fertilization, the word 'turkey baster' is very commonly used. And of course, the offsprings are called the turkey baster babies.

Re: Alex Eyes "Back-up Plan" - Part 2
With more and more women getting into the workforce and delaying child-bearing ages, and more cougar-type relationships, I think this movie subject will catch on like wildfire.
The list of age-challenged actresses who likely had IVF and have twins keeps getting longer (eg. J Lo, Julia Roberts, Marcia Cross, Angelina Jolie, Geena Davis...) Courteney Cox probably did IVF and Demi Moore probably tried a few times. And if she's not careful, Jen A will be going down the IVF route herself if she keeps hanging around with jerks. Rich celebrities can afford IVF for however long until they conceive but for real life people, these things can be very expensive. My cousin's 36-year old wife tried one IVF and had 3 unsuccessful pregnancies and it completely wiped out their bank account afterward. They have to give up.
I think both of these movies will do well since they both have hugely popular actors/actresses.
Anyway, found this blog with RL perspectives. The person misspelled Alex's name.
There'll probably be more articles once the movies hit the screens. Popular subject.

Love's Labour's Lost: Hollywood Tackles In Vitro Fertilization
By TempX
The name Lesley Brown probably doesn't mean anything to you. And that's OK. She's a footnote in history as she's the first woman to have a child through in vitro fertilization. In 1978, Mrs. Brown gave birth through a planned Caesarean Section to her daughter, Louise. Last year Lesley and John Brown celebrated Louise's 30th birthday alongside her husband and 2-year-old son. This is all truly a marvel of modern science. (Louise is shown here with her mom and dad in 2003.)
But leave it up to Hollywood to try to one-up history. In the next nine months, Hollywood will deliver not one but two romantic comedies ("The Backup Plan" and "The Baster") about a beautiful woman who gets artificially inseminated only to have wackiness ensue amidst morning sickness. But let's break them down and see whether these movies are Identical Twins (like Benji and Joel Madden) or Fraternal Twins (like Ashton Kutcher and his twin brother Whatshisface).
Movie Star
The Backup Plan: JENNIFER Lopez
The Baster: JENNIFER Aniston
Analysis: Both got their start in TV (Lopez on "In Living Color," Aniston on "Friends") and their movies have a lifetime gross in excess of $700 million.
Result: Identical Twins
Male Lead
The Backup Plan: Alex O'Laughlin (most likely)
The Baster: Jason Bateman
Analysis: Both actors are cute, have dark hair, blue eyes and were on shows that had cult followings (O'Laughlin on "Moonlight," Bateman on "Arrested Development"). And most importantly, neither will steal the show.
Result: Identical Twins
Method of Artificial Insemination
The Backup Plan: Catheter
The Baster: Turkey Baster
Analysis: The catheter is a proven method of conception while the turkey baster procedure appears to be urban lore (if not completely unsafe).
Result: Fraternal Twins
Ironic Twist
The Backup Plan: She finds Mr. Right just after finding out she's pregnant.
The Baster: The genetic father is her best friend who did a sperm switcharoo. Does he become Mr. Right?
Analysis: Good God, who writes this crap.
Result: Fraternal Twins
Likely Conclusion (I've not read either script)
The Backup Plan: Mother, father and child live happily ever after.
The Baster: Mother, father and child happily ever after [Note: This resulted from audience testing that rejected the first ending where Bateman's character was locked up for being super creepy for the sperm switcharoo.]
Analysis: Like you couldn't see this a mile away.
Result: Identical Twins
Final Analysis
In a nail biter, "The Backup Plan" and "The Baster" are more like Identical Twins than Fraternal Twins. Lucky for us, Nadya Suleman isn't a studio executive.

J Lo is doing her publicity bit for our man.

Jennifer Lopez Marches for Babies
Looking fit and fab, J.Lo pitches in at the March of Dimes' walkathon in Key Biscayne, Fla, on Saturday morning.
The proud mother of twins helped cut the ribbon at the March for Babies walk, benefiting premature-born infants.
Recently, Entertainment Tonight broke the news that "Moonlight" actor Alex O'Loughlin had been cast to star opposite J.Lo in CBS Films' romantic comedy 'The Back-Up Plan.'

First of all, good for JLo for doing something positive with her celebrity.
Secondly, that other post about Alex? Phbbbt. "Neither stealing the show"?
Yeah, right. He already stole the show, that's why he got cast in the movie

Ummm....I take it you don't like the concept of either movie, Raven.Raven wrote:Here, she (or he) has no idea what she's talking about...

At least BUP is slightly more believable. The set-up for Baster is just ridiculous. Jason Bateman's character switches out his sperm for that of the donor. Does he just happen to be carrying around a vial of his....little swimmers? Does he accompany her to the clinic and ducks into the next room...does his business and then switches the...erm...genetic material? *rolls eyes*
Frankly the article lost me when the writer mispelled his name (!!) and then the comment that neither will steal the show just sealed it.
