Lisa!!!
Wasn't it just wonderful to see Alex in action again? Specifics of the role and the episode aside, just to see him, finally?

Red: At the very end of the epiosode, Derek quotes the poet George Chakiris by saying "No matter how dark the moment, love and hope are always possible". For those not familiar with Criminal Minds, the cast usually quotes a line of poety at the beginning and end of each episode. The selected verse is usually germane to the episode. At the beginning of this episode, Hotch quotes Sir Francis Bacon by saying "In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present".
Fitting to Vincent, yes?

Lovely, Susie. Thank you.
I confess, although I watch CM from time to time, one of the things that puts me off is a consistent desire to shout at the television "It's not f***ing Shakespeare, people" as I do think it is a little, um, poncy (probably doesn't translate very well but I'm struggling for an alternative) and the quoting thing is one example. They were nice quotes here - and very apt - but do FBI agents
really go around quoting Francis Bacon? Susie, do you? Enquiring minds....

Pretentious? Is that the word you're looking for,
Red?
I think sometimes this show is pretentious... but I usually don't watch because most times it's gory. I watch some, cause I have liked some eps... but cannot do gore. And torture. Cannot watch, or listen to, torture...

That's the ticket,
Grace. Thank you, sweetie.
And I'm there with you on the torture.

Red, I go around quoting Yeats and Keating all the time!
Why do they do it? For dramatic purposes, I suppose. And perhaps there's a hope that the verses can sometimes explain the unexplainable, if that makes sense. Its very difficult for anyone "sane" to ever fully comprehend and understand the mentally "insane". Sorry, too early in the morning here and my brain has yet to consume enough caffeine to work properly.

Probably not.

So Dr. Seuss caused you to think

?
Somehow I don't think that's the reaction they, or Teddy Geisel, had in mind...
And Red... YES! Just to see him, just to hear him again. ABOUT DAMN TIME!
I actually broke down and emailed CBS that I watched the ep and enjoyed it and encouraged them to actually cast Alex and put him onscreen. I'm sure they'll listen to me...

What a great performance by Alex! He does that subtle, understated type of acting, which is my favorite, just perfectly.
His Vincent was scary, menacing at moments but also tender and heartbreaking at others.
I loved the way he used that (magnificent, if I may) body of his as an acting instrument; every little move, turn of the head, glance was part of a fantastic performance.
I have to watch it again but boy! our Alex must be the best actor of his generation
The narrative left some holes about Vincent's motivation sometimes but who is complaining? I had watched two previous CM episodes to get familiar with the characters and this one was different. It was all about Vincent and Alex's tremendous talent. I can see why Simon Mirren wrote it with Alex in mind.
Overall, a brilliant job
Now we just have to wait for two weeks or so to hear about TR. And it'd better be good news; we need Alex on TV weekly

Thank you, susie. Question: in your expertise, how do you think Alex presented his character? Believable or not? I'm curious as to your take on Vincent, now that you've seen his performance..

To be fair to Criminal Minds, they rarely gives us a full and complete picture/explanation as to why the UNSUB killer does what he does...I believe they want us to use our own noggins a bit and try to figure out in our own heads why we think they killed. The BAU team will give us a profile of the killer by trying to explain the killer's makeup. The show requires us to think, a novel concept in this day and age on TV.
