He had the scar at the beginning of episode 1.10 -- but it looks like they may have been trying to cover it with makeup. I think it might be real.

During the fight at the end of episode 1.09, he was cut with a knife but it was across the upper arm, not a stab wound to the chest.

Back to the possible scar. Here's a screen cap of the spearfishing episode 1.10 Palekeiko. Could it be scabbed over here? Or might the make up not stay on since he was in the water?

I did notice that the still shots released of the same scene must have been photoshopped to remove it.

Going back to Nalowale ("The One in Bed with Catherine" using jmc's subtitles), I can't tell. That part of his body is just not in good light.
