Vincent's motive did confuse me quite a bit..if he was so traumatized by watching his mother get murdered, how does it afford him release to kill random women in the same way? And, why only once a year? He can control his urges the other 11 months? Interesting.....

Marc Berman over at Ad Week has the fast overnight ratings:
Fox’s American Idol stood well above the competition at 9 p.m., with a 13.4/20 in the hour.
Second behind American Idol in the overnights was CBS’ solid Criminal Minds (8.7/13), followed by ABC’s Lost (5.3/ 8), a repeat of Law & Order: SVU on NBC (3.7/ 6), and an unnecessary repeat of 90210 on the CW (1.0/ 2).

Well IMO when he killed the women in his mind he was spending time with his mother again. Why only once a year? OCD can be like that certain things have to be done in a certain way at a certain time. It can be daily, weekly, monthly, yearly.

I looked at the last 3 weeks they had new episodes (not rerun) and they did 13.5 - 13.8 & 13.4.

I looked up last week and CM was CBS's second highest performing show with 8.9 rating/15 share, 13,723 million viewers.

Thank you, susie. Question: in your expertise, how do you think Alex presented his character? Believable or not? I'm curious as to your take on Vincent, now that you've seen his performance..
Unfortunately, the writers seemed to have gone off profile. These types of psychopathic killers have no remorse, they can't feel empathy for their victims. They can usually fake it pretty good (ala Ted Bundy), but Vincent had empathy and caring for Stanley. That was definitely off profile. He even was "sorry" he had to kill Alice. Was he faking it? Perhaps, but to me that was real emotion, something these types of killers cannot feel for their victims (again per what I've come to understand about the makeup of these killers). So yeah, they went off profile a bit, but even the BAU Team said that it was very unusual, so there's that.
I would be interested in knowing how much Alex was able to "change" Vincent's profile. Was he able to change the writer's script a bit and humanize Vincent more? I've seen comments from those on the set that Alex was very much into the role, that he made suggestions and worked closely with the director.
I'm off from work today as I have a dental appointment. But I can't wait to get back in the office and give my friends at Quantico a call and see what they thought of the episode. They usually razz me quiet a bit for watching Criminal Minds, as most of them can't stand the show.

But I talked a few of them into watching this episode just for me and for Alex.
