Thanks, alle. That explains it - I couldn't get that video to play and none of those stills have been released.

I don't know that he's praying....I read the still shots as he's deep in thought, perhaps trying assess some information and make a decision about something

I had the same take as you, dsr. I guess maybe because we've seen Alex do this with his hands before -- in interviews, on panels and during his speech to accept the People's Choice Award -- it just seemed natural. Here, it struck me as an act of contemplation, perhaps centering himself before a difficult moment. :2cents:

Normally (and knowing Alex), I'd say that too--but coupled with all the eyes-raised-to-Heaven pics, it gets a little overly pious looking to me. And remember, Andy isn't Alex.

Maybe that's why they haven't used those particular pics--because they intended for them to portray one thing and they came out suggesting something else...?

That's quite possible, alle. I wasn't suggesting that he was actually praying..contemplative is a better term. It was a rather odd photo shoot, though..almost like they didn't quite know what they were trying to portray..so they tried a bit of everything. But, I suppose, that most photoshoots are like that and they just choose what comes off best..

Kinda like the Geico ads with the fanged bundle of money....someone on the board (was it you, alle?) here pointed out that the insurance companies had finally recognized themselves for what they are - bloodsuckers!!

I don't think I was the one who made that observation about the Geico ads, but I sure do agree with it... :snicker:

JIMS, I agree that the photoshoot seemed unfocused and lacking a goal for what they wanted to achieve. I would consider it to be unsuccessful, if their aim was to get compelling photos that would make the average person want to tune in the show. Oh well...

ETA: Ooh, inadvertent pun on "unfocused," my apologies!

I think Alex just struck a pose... and that hands-together thing is one he does a lot... not in character really... don't recall any of his characters doing that... but it's an Alex pose... I'm guessing he just struck a natural pose... it doesn't bother me cause it looks so much like him...

Lilly's snark... superb (tho who is possibly surprised by her superbness??)! :clapping: :rolling: And it adds the note of levity and irreverence I hope the show WILL discover...

And Dark... yeah, honey, the arm. Oh my. :happysigh:

I thought you'd like that shot....

Actually, Mick did use that gesture once, in "The Ringer". When he's watching the building burn....

My impression after seeing that video of the photo shoot was that they were trying to convey the urgency of getting the organs to the operating theatre in time. The running poses with the cooler; pushing the gurney etc., And to me, the skyward look is them being in an elevator watching the floors whiz by.

It does seem too studied and forced, and I don't think it worked, but I see what they were trying to do. The grave faces are trying to convey the seriousness of the situation, but taken out of context they just look...emotionless.

*hides the knives*

Or over-excited.

Sure. Like I'd be cool as a cucumber should I ever run into this man. :thud:

That was a great interview....no wonder I'm in love. :melts:

OK, I've got my body armor on for the tomatoes.....

Great that he doesn't faint, and that he's into / excited about his new role, but I'm sorry to hear how little he thinks of his own work. Granted, Whiteout and BUP may not be Oscar material, but this is the second time I've heard / read his ambivalence about BUP. Now he's 'OK' with Whiteout. Maybe this self-deprecation is his way of not jinxing either movie, but really, I hope he does appreciate his skills.

I wish I could have heard this interview instead of just reading it....I wonder how tired he was when he gave it. He's got to be tired of answering the same questions over and over again, even though he knows it's part of the job. And while he's appreciative of the exposure Moonlight gave him, not to mention the fans, it sounds like he's finally put it behind him.
