I just think he's
very critical of his own body of work. I've never heard him say he's content with a role he's played. Heck, he's even publicly stated that he rarely ever watches himself act and that its difficult for him to watch scenes with the director during filming. He considers himself to be a good actor, not great by any means. He's said he's constantly striving to be a better actor and he immerses himself in whatever role he's playing at the time. So I don't think he's saying the BUP or Whiteout are bad movies, per se, he's just not going to toot his own horn. Humility is a rare trait in Hollywood!

Indeed it is. Maybe that's why is sounded so odd. But I guess I should consider the source.

Oh I LOVE that interview... he says so many interesting things!
He's just interesting, period... and yeah, perfectionist and self-critical. But he's not a fainter. And he drinks Scotch and gardens.
And, apparently... just guessing here... is THE star attraction at his gym a couple times a week...

But... and perhaps he, of the self-deprecating nature, does not recognize this... we DO have exquisite and discerning taste...

I love this interview, thank you Red!
It's so interesting to read about how his character Andy is similar to himself, and how he has to focus on the differences to make it work and to keep Andy out of his head after filming. I love how he talks about decompressing, about being homesick, about healthy choices and his workout (5 times a week - dude, that's a lot!) and learning about surgery. He sure is passionate about everything he does.
And I love love love how much he appreciates the fans!

Now THAT is an interesting / different photo shoot.....if nothing else, I thank him for appreciating the 'passion' of his fans and being able to speak of 'Moonlight' with fondness, even though there was all the behind the scenes drama.
How could we not be passionate? He was in creating MSJ and he's apparently equally passionate about Dr. Andy.
This time, may his passion be rewarded.

Here's to that sentiment,
Dark...
He deserves it... and I do believe we're ready for another thrill ride...

Alex is 100% right about genre fans (and I realize that some Moonlight fans aren't really genre fans, but just Moonlight ONLY fans) being passionate. I love a lot of sci-fi/fantasy shows (Supernatural, Doctor Who, True Blood, etc.) and I see a big difference in fandom passion. Hence, the reason why Comic Con and other Sci-Fi type of conventions are HUGE.
I wish they'd put some of those outtakes on EW.com!
