By the way, did anyone else catch the 'Pitcher/Catcher' reference? Very clever move on Lightman's part, he was challenging Martin's control, and masculinity. Implying that he plays the role of the woman by letting Helen take him for a ride, sexually speaking (It's called Pegging, for the sake of keeping this PG13 I won't go into detail - look it up ).

It was brilliant on Lightman's part but I was surprised Pitcher/Catcher got through the censors at 8P on U.S. TV. We have so many rules about what can and can't be said and certain times of day. I'm guessing the censor review board didn't know what it meant.

Yeah, I'm guessing that too. I burst out laughing when I heard him say it.cassysj wrote:It was brilliant on Lightman's part but I was surprised Pitcher/Catcher got through the censors at 8P on U.S. TV. I actually find it pretty difficult to believe a censor (network or otherwise) wouldn't be aware of the connotations in that phrase. It's not that uncommon.

You'd be surprised. I had to explain the reference to at least two adults. If something is not a forbidden "word" it sometimes gets by even if it is an inappropriate expression.

Has anyone met a true Psychopath? Or believe they might have?
I have, once. Back in 1991, I was doing some Adult Study Courses at a local College. This guy around our age (about 18 at the time), befriended myself and another friend of mine. We used to all eat lunch together, and we both had crushes on him. He was handsome, well dressed, stylish, utterly charming, well mannered, intelligent, attentive, really made you feel like you'd known him forever after just one conversation. He was pretty much the sort of guy any Parent would just love for their daughter to bring home. I remember being so jealous when my friend got to go on a couple of dates with him.
Then one day about 5 or 6 years later I saw his picture in the paper. They were dubbing him the 'Baby Faced Killer'. He'd raped, and murdered an 80 year old woman after breaking into her home. Apparently when he was asked why he did it, he replied that he was 'bored' and 'wanted to experience what it felt like'.

Cool recap. And it reminded me how much I enjoyed the interaction of the regular characters on the show. I'm going to look for the first season, so I can catch up!

FWIW, I can heartily recommend it - I love this show and Tim Roth is always, always fantastic.allegrita wrote:Cool recap. And it reminded me how much I enjoyed the interaction of the regular characters on the show. I'm going to look for the first season, so I can catch up!

Oh, yeah--I loved him. And somehow he's less grating for me than Hugh Laurie is as House...

Oh Jeezuz... who isn't???
But I LOVE Tim Roth in this role. Love his accent... love his quirks and total restlessness... always moving moving moving...
