My first thought was... his HAIR!!

But then, after the initial shock, I totally agree, grace... cute.

Long hair, short hair, no hair. It's all the same on this gorgeous specimen.

This buzz cut definitely shows off his gray and I like it! That is an extreme haircut but I'm sure his hair goes fast enough to be at McG length next season.

Also, those socks look to be Skins compression tights. (calf tights with stirrups) Runners wear them as do cyclists, etc.

You're welcome! I wish I had more exciting stuff to report than Alex's athletic socks, but I will take what I can get.

They are designed to send more oxygen to your muscles and enhance circulation. A lot of athletes wear things like this because it gives more bang for your buck when you are working out. You can exercise harder and longer and recovery is quicker. From the look of Alex's body,he is definitely a hard core exerciser. Why he has them paired with those shorts? I don't know!

He never has been known for his sartorial choices!

Yes, he does look very different... tho not enough so that he can go about incognito.
So if that was his goal, fail.

And yes, the short short hair just continues to highlight the nearly unbearable perfectness of his features...

Tho I think the get-up he's wearing contributes to the youthification... he's dressed like an 8 year old going off to soccer practice, and sitting there eating his cereal...

I'm in the definite minority here. I don't like it at all, which is odd for me, because I usually prefer a shorter cut on guys (Both Mr. PNW and PNW Jr. wear their hair this short all the time).

I do love how happy and rested he looks, though...

PNWgal - oh no, honey. I think you're in the huge majority (everyone loves the curl). It's usually just me who wants to set about him with the clippers.

I can't help it - I LOVE his longer hair. I loved Mick's hair, but I got used to that shorter Dr. Andy/Stan/Steve hair and I was SO loving seeing that little bit of curl at his nape again.

And a buzz cut really is practical for summertime for an active guy. I just...really wish he hadn't cut it.

And I was really surprised at how gray Alex actually is!

Oh. My. God. He is adorable. I don't find it terrifically sexy... just adorable. I want to fuzz the palm of my hand over his buzz like I do with my son's.

I just love the way he changes his looks so drastically and yet remains beautiful. Just... sigh.

I'm one of the admirers of longer hair too. However, if he's happy that's all that counts.

I can imagine that when you're told exactly what you can do with your hair because of your character while filming, you'd race to change it dramatically during the off time. Hair grows a half inch a month on average so it will be back by the time filming starts. Of course, that assumes he'll look the same after the season cliff hanger.

I like the gray more than the style. I think it makes him look older, but he is nothing if not a chameleon, as he's proven time and again.

What I do love about his new look? The fact that he could give a hoot about how he looks! He is just a guy. A guy who is probably thrilled to not be styled, dyed, dressed and made up 6 days a week. A guy who is so naturally good looking that he doesn't even have to try.

That makes him infinitely more appealing to me.
