I beg to differ. CBS gains nothing by "sabotaging" Alex's show. Let's not forget they:
- signed a relatively unknown actor to a year-long talent contract
- gave that actor a new series
- put said actor in a movie with Jennifer Lopez
I'd say they're giving him a shot at being successful, although putting the pressure of the series' success or failure on his shoulders alone is hardly fair.

Sabotage indicates intent and I don't think there is an intent to do the show in.PNWgal wrote:I beg to differ. CBS gains nothing by "sabotaging" Alex's show. Let's not forget they:

I do wonder though why it is ever single show I've ever cared about that was on CBS never manages for long. Granted they have a good measure of success so apparently they are capable but the question is are they only capable with the same formula over and over? I'm always going to wish that Alex had gone to one of the cable networks.
PNWgal I know next to nothing about TV and movie production so it's no surprise I don't understand how CBS gets credit for Alex being in Backup Plan. Didn't he have to audition or anything?

Re: Three Rivers - news, links, discussion - part 8 **SPOILERS**
As long as the remaining episodes (a full season's worth to begin with) are of the quality of the second ep (which I guess should have been the first?), I don't care if they show episode 16 instead of 5, or #12 instead of 7, I will be a happy girl. And we are ML fans, after all. We can handle confusion better than any other fan out there!
I also am thrilled that TVGuide continues to support Alex and 3Rivers. So many people buy that publication, or read it online, it is the Bible for television viewers. Make sure that we give TVGuide some love for their continued promotion of 3R.
And it doesn't make sense for CBS to NOT want Alex to succeed. They doled out a heap of money to him, for production of the show, etc. Not to mention not wanting to face the ire of his fans again!

Sweet Fleur.

ITA, except I'm not so very sure that CBS, or anyone else for that matter, is really all that afraid of us...

http://donatelife-organdonation.blogspo ... ghlin.html
Donate Life Ambassador Alex O'Loughlin in a pre-recorded message sent his support to the worldwide efforts for organ donation. His message was shown on huge video screens strategically place throughout the World Day & European Day of Organ Donation concert which was held in Berlin, Germany at Brandenberg Gate on October 5th. In addition to Alex's message, heartwarming stories were shared by donor families and transplant recipients encouraging concert attendees to become organ, eye & tissue donors. The European Day of Organ Donation events were also broadcast on television throughout Europe. The Day of Organ Donation was held in conjunction with the International Society of Organ Procurement (ISODP) Congress attended by over 700 delegates from 60 countries.
The text of Alex's message follows:
"Hi, this is Alex O’Loughlin with CBS’s new medical drama Three Rivers. I am honored to play a transplant surgeon on the show which premieres tonight in the States and I want to congratulate you on the work you are doing to raise awareness of organ donation worldwide and save lives through donation and transplantation. I wish I could be there with you celebrating World Donation Day and I am happy to play a small role in what you are doing to encourage the world to Donate Life. Thank you.”

Okay..a bit OT..but..
..you know that you have been spending wayyy too much time immersed in TV-land when..
After leaving the grocery store today, I noticed that the car parked next to mine has a Donate Life bumper sticker..and I'm hugely tempted to sit in my car and wait until the person comes out to see if they watch Three Rivers..
I didn't..but it was a struggle..

Not sure I agree assuming (and this is a big assumption) that they get more into character based storylines like Andy's trying to get back with his wife.Fleur de Lisa wrote:As long as the remaining episodes (a full season's worth to begin with) are of the quality of the second ep (which I guess should have been the first?), I don't care if they show episode 16 instead of 5, or #12 instead of 7, I will be a happy girl. Using your example against Moonlight, they would have shown Sonata right after Fever and Mortal Cure right after Black Crystal. I do get that Moonlight was much more character driven and is less switchable than I think TR will be, but you get the idea. Switching episodes leaves gaps where the audience gets lost instead of following the story.
I kind of wonder if episode 2 would have been as weak had the true first episode with its more extensive character background had shown first.

Aww...geeezz..why do these guys hate us so much??

Three Rivers: DOA
The premiere ratings for Three Rivers registered a flatline with viewers, and it’s now the most likely CBS show to be canceled prior to the end of the season. Based on recent CBS history with underperforming dramas, cancellation prior to November seems quite possible.

Yeah, I read their 'take' on who's going to be cancelled and who gets to stay. These are the same guys that were absolutely sure that 'Gary Unmarried' and 'New Adventures of Old Christine' wouldn't live to see the 2009 fall season. Guess what? They were wrong.
Also, the cancel / renew number for 'Medium' aren't that much different than for 3R.....CBS picked up Medium before the ink was dry on the NBC cancellation paper.....CBS has also put a lot into 3R.....I'll take anything that Gorman and company say with a grain of salt. As for the comments, there appears to be a returning cadre of people who hate a given show....If they hate it so much, why do they keep on coming back and commenting? Are they really so desperate that having their 2 cents in cyberspace week after whiny week is so important?
Sad. Truly sad.
For me, I admit I didn't like the first episode and said so, but I came back and really liked the second one. I'll keep coming back as long as they keep showing them.

*loves DSR*
After my last descent into the hell that is TVBTN, I refuse to go back there. The nastiness displayed there was just appalling.
This is what I'm discovering: my fear of losing 3R before its time is interfering with my enjoyment of the show. Yeah, it's not the greatest show in the universe - so what? I like it. I get to see Alex every week. Katherine Moennig continues to impress me. I'm learning how people deal with loss and a huge decision like donating the organs of a loved one when there's no hope. I get to see Alex every week.
CBS has put a lot of time, effort and money into this. I don't see them bailing without giving the show a fighting chance to succeed.
So - I've decided to stay out of any ratings threads on the various boards and won't listen to any more negativity. I'm with DSR - I'll watch 3R as long as it's on. It's the least I can do as an Alex fan.

*dsr loves P'gal, too*
I'll be anxious to see next week's episode....
Question - when I go to the CBS site and click on the 3R video clips, I keep getting a message about 'content can't be loaded'
Anybody else have this problem or am I missing something?
