It's easier not to lose it that way. That makes sense to me--accents are about so much more than pronunciation. They're about word flow, rhythm, and cadence as well, and those things are hard to do well. His accents seem so natural--probably because he doesn't keep switching the accent on and off when he's working.

I've heard of many actors using that technique---staying 'in character' so to speak, all the time while filming--makes it so much easier to not lose the accent they are developing for the film.
Exactly, grace. That's what I don't understand. Do the producers make that call----do they feel that the audience identifies more with an American accent? I get that Mick couldn't sound Australian, but for Stan, why not?wpgrace wrote:Fleur de Lisa wrote:I agree dsr--how sexy would it sound for his character to have his natural Aussie voice?

It is kinda ironic, that Aussie actors are hot in Hollywood, but that for the most part they are not using their normal accents in their roles... You would think if Aussies were in, the producers would WANT the accent as part of the package...
it would not have worked for Mick... Mick was an LA guy... but for BUP, well, couldn't Stan be an Australian living in So Cal??
