I never understood the two shots until i read something somewhere about what Phil shot.

And she calls him 'pig' just like his girlfriend did.

Maybe that's what really pushed him over....

I think it would have been much better to end it after the shots. The coda, with psycho-Phil, was just a conceit too far for me.

In one of the optional endings that was on the DVD, Jack Thompson comes to get Phil since he went rogue. I'm not remembering if they shoot him or not though.
