This year for my birthday I wanted to support a cause that is truly important to me so I've joined with Taylor's Gift Foundation to help raise money for the organization.
The fan that raises the most money by August 31 will receive a personalized note and gift from me.
You can create your personal fundraising page here: http://www.stayclassy.com/AlexOLoughlin2014
100% of proceeds will go to the mission of Taylor's Gift Foundation.

Alex posted this on his official facebook page. I congratulate the man on heading off all the crazy gifts he probably gets for his birthday and supporting a personal cause at the same time!

Re: Alex's Charitable Causes
Good for Alex!
I hope it raises a ton of money.
(And helps him avoid receiving a ton of gifts he doesn't want or need.)

Alex does a "CBS Cares" segment on ebola.

If I find a reference outside of facebook, I'll substitute that.

Re: Alex's Charitable Causes
Alex did an interview about the ALS walk in Honolulu that's taking place this weekend. The transcript is here.

What a great interview. You can really tell that this cause is close to his heart.
I fell in love with Malia's mom, reading her blog. I'm sure Alex wishes he'd had a chance to know her. ALS is such a cruel disease.

Another interview Alex did on Hawaii Public Radio for the walk.
http://hpr2.org/post/helping-hand-als-association
Alex talks a bit about his mother's job as a community nurse which was interesting.

Alex so rarely tells personal stories like this... it was lovely of him to share, and what a vivid way he has of describing events! I bet his mom is very proud.

ESS has put a few of the early pictures of Alex at the walk. Here's one.

How nice that the family participated.
Isn't Lion cute?! (Of course, with those two parents, how could he not be?)

Lion is absolutely adorable...and makes me wonder if Alex was a tow-headed kid when he was that age.
I love that he was apparently just another participant in the walk.
Not the "famous guy who showed up to start the thing, then vanished."

Re: Alex's Charitable Causes
From the young pictures that were shown of Steve that were confirmed by Peter to actually be pictures of Alex and Taryn shown in episode 1.02 Ohana, his hair color was pretty much as it is now (excluding the occasional grey that peeks throughlibrarian_7 wrote:Lion is absolutely adorable...and makes me wonder if Alex was a tow-headed kid when he was that age.![]()

I was going to say that I was going to try to locate the pictures that I know are on this site somewhere but I see that Kath has already posted the pic which reran on the Savannah episode.
