Okay, now that we know Alex's plans, the episode is going to go real bad. Oh, he plays a killer, that wants to be stopped, going to need a box of tissues on this one.

I noticed that too, Christy!

Jeez....they can't even get his name spelled correctly??? I hope by the time Three Rivers debuts that they'll have that down pat.
And I'm with ya, nayp.....I can't see this episode ending well.

Very intriguing, this is something I haven't seen before. A killer who wants to be saved from killing more. Sounds like a psychological mine field that must be really fun for an actor to explore. Remember Michael Carter in Feed? Alex will do so good in this. O'Laughlin? I'm Laugh-ing.

This episode is going to be a "winner." Criminal Minds ratings should go right through the roof, skyrocket with Alex at the helm. I'm counting on it. I love this show, and can so see him taking this one and carrying it all the way. Thanks so very much SirenSong for the information. Alex will nail this, completely. Can't wait!

I think the description of his role (serial killer who asks the BAU to be stopped) fits very well with redemption. I guess (don't know of course) that the concept wasn't picked for a whole new show but put into one episode of CM. The CM fans already find this highly unusual, so it seems to be something new.

For kicks, here's a picture of the boy playing "Young Vincent" -- I assume this would be Alex's character as a child.

They sure got the eyes right.

They did indeed. I copied and pasted it here directly from the CBS Press site. Obviously whoever wrote that had no idea who Alex is. Sad, huh?
As for this possibly being a portion of the idea that Simon and Alex developed together, I'd guess no on that one just because I think Alex would have co-writing credit if that were the case. But who knows, right? Maybe Alex will blog about it as soon as he can. (hint, hint, nudge, nudge Alex

)

From your lips to God's ears.

In the kid's resume, it states that he is a "frightened mall child" in Criminal Minds. I wonder if that is his role in this episode or another (it doesn't say). Could Alex have tried to abduct him?

I saw that on his resume too, Lynn, but I think that was from an episode back in 2007. In this one he's Alex's character as a child, if I read the cast listing correctly. Maybe the kid's role in 2007 wasn't that noticeable so they could use him again.

According to IMDbPro, he played the "frightened mall child" uncredited in the 2007 episode "Seven Seconds."
I bet they remembered him as someone who could pass for Alex as a kid.
ETA: SS beat me to it.
