I wonder if they even have a clue what they're opening themselves up too?

I mean how many questions can you ask about Alex's participation in this movie? And I too am worried that some of the "conspiracy theorists" are going to come out and start bashing CBS, NT, LM, JS, etc, etc, etc. over Moonlight's cancellation. And I agree with coco. What purpose will this serve? Its not like Alex is going to be recast or his role made larger as a result of e-mails. I mean really. I fail to see the purpose of this quest for questions about Alex's involvement in a movie. There are more obvious ways to advertise or gen-up support for the movie and Alex. Color me a bit confuzzled.

I too was just in touch with MaryP too. She said that CBS sent the e-mail addy "
alex.fans@cbs.com" to webmasters of Alex's fan sites. But Maryp wasn't sure if she was supposed to share it with Alex's fans (her membership), or the e-mail was just for the webmasters. So she sent an e-mail back and asked CBS if the e-mail was meant to be shared with Alex's fans. CBS responded that yes, they were okay with Alex's fans having the e-mail addy, but that they would only be answering questions about Alex as it relates to the movie, the Back-up Plan, and nothing else. The CBS response was "we will only respond to anything regarding the movie as we only deal with Alex as it pertains to his role in the film. "
So it looks legit, but still really weird to me. I would imagine it will work sort of like the feedback link does on the CBS official website.
This still sounds incredibly weird to me. What's the point of this? They don't want feedback or comments, just questions and only concerning Alex's role in the movie. That is so odd.
And forgive me for maybe asking a stupid question, but is Maryp ABSOLUTELY positive that this came from a reputable CBS source -- someone that she has personally dealt with before? It just sounds so fishy. And the fact that the e-mail addy is somehow linking to a dubious website makes me even more suspicious.
Sorry, still not convinced in the legitimacy of this. And besides all of that, what questions could we possibly have at this point?

I agree girls... sounds both pointless and weird and maybe even suspicious... and if they think the wing-nuts aren't gonna start the ML drumbeat again... or lobby for a 3R pick up... then they learned absolutely nothing last year and they deserve what they get.
It will have no bearing on the movie or the box office. Alex needs a strong box office. THAT I will happily participate in...

This just seems weird. And also the whole "we will limit questions to the movie". What is that? So what do they expect to be asked? I for one am going to ignore it. And willing freshie and grace have a good point, the wingnuts and ML campaigners are sure to make everyone else look crazy and frankly after almost a year off-air, it really is uncalled for and I prefer to have some distance from that. As for 3Rs, it won't do a bit of good. It will all come done to numbers when it airs.
Maybe it was a slow day and someone thought it might be entertaining to do some twisted one year anniversary barometer to see how many maniacal fans are still out there.

Geez....how bad would you hate your job if it included reading through the endless e-mails that will surely follow, scanning for the few and far between legitimate Back-Up Plan questions?

Nope. I sure wouldn't want to have to wade through all those e-mails. But then, on the other hand, I might just laugh my a$$ off at some of the way-out-there comments. But alas, I'm afraid I won't be sending any e-mails to that CBS addy.

Don't you just get a feeling that CBS missed us that we're gone?
Okay, not saying that this is the case but I've experienced phishing from eBay in the past. You'd get an email that looks credible from an addy that ends with ebay.com but the problem is that it wasn't sent by someone from the company. So, how do we know that our email will reach someone at CBS even if the addy says
alex.fans@cbs.com ?? Like someone mentioned earlier, how can maryp ascertain that her question indeed reached someone at CBS??
Sorry, I'm overly skeptical but after going through with that dubious DirecTV voting poll from almost a year ago, I don't trust too many sites.

For what it's worth, it's easy to spoof an email address.

I think someone needs to CALL CBS by phone and ask them if this is genuine. Who do we know that has a contact at CBS?

As has been stated above, maryp has already taken every reasonable step to determine the legitimacy of this e-mail - and it seems as though the general consensus is - uh, OK, weird, moving along.

But did she use THAT email address to ask about it? Seems prudent to fully verify it, don't you think?
If it IS legit I wonder why they sent it to that Three Rivers blog. That's a blog for that programme and not an Alex site is it not?

OK, I'm on my lunch break and wanted to respond as I'm worried that my first post about the blog causes any confusion. I have no idea who sent the email address. I did a google search of the email address and this blog was top of the google site list BUT only because it posted the same message as the MySpace blog. I have no idea where the email address came from or who sent it and I have no idea what site, if any, it's connected to.
