I can't begin to tell you how pleased I was to see this piece pop back up to the active topics. It's so very gratifying as a fic writer to see that an older effort is still appreciated!
Thank you, thank you!

I just reread this wonderful piece, made even better by the fact that it was your entry in a two hour challenge.
Wow!
Thank you

It is one of lifes ironies that important moments in our lives often go by practically unnoticed as we deal with other things considered more important at the time.
Mick was clutching at his bit of independence from Coraline, while he continued to suffer through the betrayal of his turning. Coraline still held her power over him, and he bitterly resented it, but still it was true.
Josef...was Josef.
The end of a marriage.
The beginning of a beautiful friendship.
And perhaps, the first stirrings of Mick St. John becoming someone he recognizes when he looks in the mirror.
Nicely done!!!

This was fabulous, Lucky!
Your Mick is so believable: noir, lethargic, angry, depressed. I love reading pieces about Mick as a new vampire.
Josef and Mick may appear to be opposites, but I have always thought (like Lola) that they share a few common traits. Their friendship is very strong, and I believe that both of them need it. Coraline was not a good sire, and introducing Josef to Mick was probably the best thing she did for Mick.
Thank you.

Ooh, thanks for the comment, Marigold! I've always liked this little piece. Glad to see you've found the challenges...there is SO much good stuff in the challenge fics.
I agree, Coraline did a terrible job with Mick's turning, certainly. We never really heard much about how she taught him the ins and outs of being a vampire, but I think it does speak well of her that she introduced him to Josef. (And she did comment in Sleeping Beauty that she'd introduced them.)

I am revisiting challenges and I couldn't pass up the boys first meeting. Just as delightful in a re-read
