Re: Mick's Memorial Day (One-shot, Rated G)
Totally agree.
Just reread this lovely story and teared up (of course). Something touching and the waterworks just get turned on.
This brought up a lovely detail--the other individual present that stood a little taller when the veterans of WWI were honored was a vampire who was there on a similar mission to Mick's, wasn't he--keeping in touch with his human roots.
Also, I thing you are right about the tragedy of thinking he had lost his best friend in Italy, then finding that he was alive after he and Lilah had begun to move on may have set Mick on a self destructive spiral. Perhaps Coraline actually saved Mick after all.
In any case, this was wonderful. This was something Mick had been wanting to do, and he wanted Beth with him.
Thank you!
Jenna

I'm so glad you bumped this, MLC. It's a lovely story, and a great tribute to servicemen and women, whether on active duty, in the reserves, or veterans.

Re: Mick's Memorial Day (One-shot, Rated G)
Beautiful at many levels.
Mick has made this pilgramage before, but this year he wanted Beth with him. That says a lot about a desire for her to be a part of a very personal ritual.
I'm glad he achieved a type of closure. Somehow, I think a friendship as close as Mick and Ray, although Ray would for a time may resent what he interpreted as a betrayal, in time he would forgive and want to restore the relationship but it was not to be.
Nicely done!

Thanks for bumping this, MLC. This is one of my favorite fics - I always get a little misty-eyed when Mick talks to Ray and asks him for his forgiveness...and I absolutely LOVE the end when Mick runs into a "kindred soul" from WWI.

Brilliant story MickLifeCrisis, and a well-written one too.
This deserves it's yearly bump because it is that good.
