You know, I didn't get that until I watched it with Dutch subtitles a few weeks ago and they literally translated it as "you're the best thing they've got". I thought he meant the sleaze was the best part

Yes, and when she takes his hand at the car at the funeral, he's very surprised and reluctantly takes the hand away because he doesn't want humans to touch him. It's dangerous.

He seems not really comfortable with having her there without notice. He's so nervous that he starts cleaning up. Or he doesn't want her to see what he's working on.

Our viewing was great! I can really see this becoming a weekly ritual for the coming, say, 15.. 30 weeks a long while!
