We've gone from a little salty to sweet here. Love the pairing of the two new stories

He felt her move against him, heat flowing through. The swish of her hair across his chest; the gentle rumble of her moan;

Mmmm, this creates such a beautiful image. I was a bit disappointed to discover this was a dream because it was oh-so-real.

A shiver rippled through him as freezer chill forced out the dream's heat, a trail of goose bumps in its wake.

Eeps! I felt that shock of cold, you had me quite well in that moment.

Perception's shutters rose

As others have said, love it! This is now one of my favourite turns of phrase ever.

What value her humanity? What price his immortality? Where was their place in the world? Even in his momentary melancholy he smiled at the strange and wonderful notion that they might have one.

Sigh. Love this bridge. The questions with unfortunate answers and the prospect of a future, even an uncertain one. I'm happy you've ended with possibility, yes, with some difficult realities, but with the door open.

Wow, I loved this, I loved the story that inspired it, and I loved everyone's comments! I actually read it twice it was so good.

I have to say that this one particular line made me feel hopeful for Mick:

For so long he'd imagined perfection; always slipping just out of his reach, the universe taunting him with other plans. But now, in their own imperfectly perfect existence, he had no idea what it was let alone how to achieve it.

For some reason, the fact that he acknowledges their "imperfectly perfect existence" seems to mean that he is ready to accept what he has in front of him, and even though it's not exactly what he dreamed of, it's a thread to hold onto and build from.

So wonderful, Red, as always. You rock.

Yes. That's the perfect Mick Beth sentiment. Making the imperfect perfect, or at least making it beautiful in its imperfection, is what it's all about with those two.
