Nellie Andreeva (the author of the article) is just referring back to the recent teeter totter between Three Rivers and Miami Trauma. She said it HAD been heating up (past tense) but CBS decided in favor of Three Rivers because they've given it the go ahead to start hiring. CBS wouldn't do that if they weren't going to pick up the show.

Amy V.

But the writers hired for Three Rivers could easily be diverted to write for Miami Trauma. This same scenario happened last year with one of the comedies that CBS was supposedly going to pick up, but in the end it didn't happen. The "dark horse" comedy was picked up and the writers they had hired for the other show were summarily passed over to write for the show that did get picked up. I think the comedy that was passed on was called Single White Millionaire, and the pilot that was picked up was "Gary Unmarried". I would think the same thing could happen here. Again, I'm very optimistic. Just cautiously optimistic.
Can that even be done when the shows have different production houses?

I would have thought that Jerry Bruckheimer's people would be in charge of hiring their own writers. TR, NCIS2 and The Good Wife are all CBS productions.

I think this is sounding really positive, but I'm going to wait and celebrate when it's official. In the meantime, this is still making me very happy.

I don't hear anything about Jason's show though, and I think we are going to be disappointed on that one.

Thanks for the link, Jade.

Re the Three Rivers news, well, it's lovely to wake up to on a Sunday morning and it certainly does seem like everything is heading in the right direction. I'm happy not just because it looks like 3R will be picked up, but that the buzz is good, i.e. the pilot rocked. I always wanted this not just to get picked up, but to be really good! We all know Alex is going to be wonderful, but it's good to start getting a sense that the whole show will be high quality.

But I'm still not gonna break out the champagne. I'm with Susie, still waiting and hoping for a definitive confirmation from CBS.

And more good news to add to the buzz, from Variety, which tends to be more conservative about posting news without confirmation: http://www.variety.com/article/VR111800 ... id=14&cs=1
CBS greenlights three dramas
'NCIS' spinoff, Margulies starrer, 'Rivers' ordered
By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER

The first real indication of notoriously tight-lipped CBS' new series plans emerged Saturday, as the Eye gave a greenlight to begin staffing up three dramas.

Pilots given the go-ahead -- a pretty obvious sign that series orders are imminent -- include the "NCIS" spinoff, as well as medical drama "Three Rivers" and the Julianna Margulies starrer "The Good Wife."

All three shows come from sister CBS Television Studio (the newly renamed CBS Paramount Network TV).

"Good Wife" stars Margulies as a woman who must return to work as a lawyer after her husband is sent to jail. Michelle King and Robert King wrote the pilot and exec producer with Ridley Scott, Tony Scott and David Zucker. Pilot was helmed by Charles McDougall.

"Three Rivers" revolves around the world of organ donors; Carol Barbee and Curtis Hanson are exec producers along with Carol Fenelon and Ted Gold.

Daniel Attias directed the pilot, which stars Alex O'Loughlin.

Then there's the new "NCIS" spinoff, starring LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell. The Los Angeles-set show comes from exec producer Shane Brennan. Pilot recently aired as a two-part episode of "NCIS."

Also at the Eye, while "Cold Case" is still looking good for renewal, the jury's still out on "Without a Trace" and "The Unit."
This is perilously close to a confirmation. Still not quite there yet, but....

Thanks, Red! My heart is happy because we are 99% there and if you remember, this is about the time last year some were beginning to sound down about ML. The opposite is happening here!

I feel very sad for Jason as I think Body Politic is out. I hope all my UK sisters and those going from the States give him our love and support which he will need at the BBM Con! :hankie:

I love Cold Case so I am happy it stays.

Oh I am so pulling a Fleur here... either my memory is just bad or I read thru the thread too quickly at some point, but was there an article that talked about the pilot being good? I missed that!!! What did it say about the pilot?? Cause I'm with you, Red... if it gets picked up I want it to be good, to get buzz, to be watched, and to stay around... :fingerscrossed:

Grace, I was inferring (don't shoot me). I haven't read anything by anyone who's actually seen it, but from the numerous comments about it having buzz, heat, going down well with TPTB, whatever the chosen phrase may be, I'm drawing the conclusion that it was good. CBS want a medical show, and they like Alex, but now that the pilot has been screened, if it was bad, they'd be moving along...

Gotcha! I know... this is just THE most nerve wracking moment isn't it??? Cause we'll know soon, and it's looking good, but oh-so-burned last year... :hyper: Still just trying not to hyperventilate...

Therein lies the rub... tho if I'm being honest, even without all these articles leading us down the primrose path, I would STILL be having a hard time preparing for the worst...

Well, all I know is I woke up with a big ole smile on my face because Three Rivers is going to be on our TVs come fall. Just think of it. Dr. Andy in blue scrubs, Tight, blue v-necked scrubs. He'll be wearing a surgical mask over which we'll see those beautiful blue/hazel eyes which speak volumes without Alex saying a word. Aah, yes. It's a good day today!
