I thought they marketed him like a bimbo and that anyone who tuned in from those ads would be disappointed because that was not what the show was about.
I think Nina still looks at him the way a desperate housewife looks at the pool boy. He appears to take it all in stride but he's an intelligent, talented professional actor and it's got to rankle. Perhaps that's part of the reason he selected this role (Bob knows what else they may have offered him!) and now they're treating him the same way at the upfronts. If he's darn near the only reason they picked this show up, what kind of pressure does that put on him and if it falls short, he's the guy with 2 failed shows.
Hollyweird indeed!
I totally agree with you on that. I don't like the pics of Dr. Andy in the skin tight long sleeved scrubs. I love to look at Alex, no mistake, but that's just not what a serious heart surgeon would wear!!! He needs to have at least his arms free up to the elbows, and the scrubs a bit less tight. He can't work in something like that. It reduces him to eye candy, and that's just not what even the most rabid fans are about!!! Not even when they write NC-17 stories about Kevin or Marshall or Mick or Marcus or Jack. That's only a small part of the fascination Alex has, and only a small part of what makes his characters so compelling and likeable. I really liked how they covered up Vincent, it was part of his character. Of course there is just no way to hide the beauty of Alex, but you don't have to flaunt it into our faces all the time. It's degrading.
On the other hand, Alex knows what he is in for and what being an actor entails, so I guess he's more amused about it and will be fine. We don't have to protect him. It's more about me feeling insulted for being catered to in this way.

It is amazing how much emotional currency we have invested in this man! In two weeks we have progressed from nervous, nail biting apprehension waiting for an official announcement from CBS; yes? no? fall ? midseason?, to exaltation! champagne! party time! Now, we're back to nail biting, nervous about how our boy will be presented. Will he be just a sex symbol or will he be bolstered with great scripts to showcase his very real talent?
Cream will rise to the top. He'll be ok. Anyone who is capable of churning our hearts and minds like this has more than a pretty face.

So beautifully written and well stated. I've always thought of Alex as more than just Mick or any of the characters I've been privy to see him portray, much more than that. He's brings his characters to life onscreen with a fierce tone that I've grown to love in him. He's on his way, that's a given. I'll be watching this talented thespian, looking forward to Three Rivers. He's a winner.

Amen, seamuss and news!
Alex's talent will shine. I liked what I saw in the very brief "behind the scenes" mind you, clip. There wil drama and definitely character development along the way, chances for Alex to display his huge talent. He will breath life into Dr. Andy the way he did to all his other roles. I am not concerned; I truly believe, and this is not cheerleading, that this will be Alex's year. Ans I am ready for a new ride

Actually the whole surgical team is in kinda tightish scrubs... don't know why... tho Alex's ARE the tightest... I dunno...
At any rate, I assume you all know, but just in case not... there is already a show webpage at CBS with the clip and a comment spot...

Was it two months ago, I was so excited about Alex filming 3R pilot, (as much time as I spend in Pittsburgh, it was like OMG he's in my backyard). Having little mini strokes every time someone mentioned MT, waiting for up fronts, last weekend was flashbacks from last year, and then the news we were all waiting for happened. So for my sanity this summer, I am not looking at one negative article, any article that has a really sad looking smiliey attached to it not reading it, some blogger wanting to lambast this series, because the series they hoped for didn't happen, it's not happening this summer. I am going to be in my happy place this summer, a new series next fall, two new movies, and I will not be depressed this summer over good news, because real life has enough bad news. Next fall, I have no idea how I will handle this new series! Will I get attached to it, worry sick about the ratings, get upset because CBS isn't promoing it enough? I only did this once it my life, and it didn't end real well, but it still gave me something special I wouldn't have had if I hadn't fell in love with a story.

Thanks, Grace, you newshound you.
Sad to say, a few crazies have already pitched up to comment... ho hum. I'm sure they will be drowned out by the Alex-love eventually, but it still rankles.

Hi Everyone, I have worked in and around hospitals and surgeons for many years, so I can verify that long sleeved tees are worn under scrubs in cool temps, certianly here on the East Coast. In fact, most scrub manufacturers carry a line of long sleeved and three quarter sleeve tees for under scrubs. However, I have never seen a surgeon wear one while operaiting due to the extensive hand and lower arm scrubbing they must do before surgery.
Chalk it up to poetic license on the part of the wardrobe department!

Thanks so very much
wpgrace. I hadn't had the opportunity to check out CBS's website for Three Rivers as of yet. The clip is nice and I most definitely will be commenting, without a doubt.

Did you notice the regular surgical team had the brown baggy scrubs (read: boring and frumpy) and the transplant team all had the same colored blue tight scrubs, and they confidently march into the room and take over. It felt like West Side Story, pitting the two sets of doctors.

Thanks for the info, Grace! I got a leeeetle bit snarky at the end of my post, but it's nothing horrible.

Just told them to PROMOTE the show.

LOL--When you're a Jet you're a Jet all the way, huh?!
Well... poetic license and all, I hope they give this talented team of actors enough good material to create a good show. In the meantime, I'm with you,
nayp--I'm not falling victim to the negative buzz game. Nobody knows yet what it'll be like. Not one person, including the actors or the producers. They probably don't even have scripts yet! So I'm going to assume that they'll give us good stories, keep their requests for willing suspension of disbelief within bounds, and make the show good. I'm not gonna worry my pretty little head about it till it starts showing in the fall.
