Well, assure him that, even though it's got Jason in it, he's going to laugh (lots!) when he sees it.

I told him "I heard this was really, really funny."

He's always teasing me about "shirtless Alex".

I took him to see Back-Up Plan too. He enjoyed it.

There are also a couple of reviews up for the movie on IMDB.com. One positive, one not so much.

The relevant part of a longer article:
Searching for Sonny
Shot in Texas by independent writer and director Andrew Disney, "Searching for Sonny" is a playful, comedic-noir take on a mystery movie. It's kind of like "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" meets "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," minus the comic bubbles and call-outs.
The story begins when a miserable pizza delivery guy, Elliot Knight (played by Jason Dohring), receives an invite to his high school reunion signed by his estranged friend Sonny Bosco (played by Masi Oka).
Right off the bat you feel a little sorry for Elliot's pathetic existence and wonder what went so wrong that lead him down this path of self destruction. At the reunion, Elliot runs into his old friend Gary Noble (played by Brian McElhaney) and is bombarded by his obnoxious, fraternal twin brother Calvin (played by Nick Kocher). Neither of them have seen or heard from Sonny since high school, when Elliot tried to "kill" him. Elliot's gorgeous ex-girlfriend, and everyone's secret crush, Eden Mercer (played by Minka Kelly) appears and things start to get interesting.
The group realizes Sonny invited them all, except Calvin who is clearly not part of the gang, to the party but is nowhere to be found. They are led on a hilarious, punchy wild goose chase which seemingly resembles the plot of a play they were involved in during high school, which was written by Sonny, himself.
This film is wildly entertaining and bursts at the seams with perfectly timed quips and antics.

Here's another great article that covers the film's path from student script to finished feature.:

And I love this bit about how Andrew wooed the actors...
"For our whole film, if you're in any way a TV junkie, you're going to be in heaven," says Disney, who sent videos to each of the actors telling them why they should come to Fort Worth and be in his movie. The videos, which aren't available to the public yet but will likely be extras on Sonny's DVD release, are as clever as Sonny itself; for instance, the one sent to Hogan features a Sonny crew member doing a one-man re-enactment of a Battlestar scene.
Jason did say about Andrew that "he charmed me right into his film." Now I really want to see the video that was sent to him.

Andrew is truly charming, and his enthusiasm is so contagious. He makes you believe you can do anything.

Back from the movie!
First of all, I want to say, it was great to see Lucky and Lilly!! Always good to see familiar faces at events.

Sorry that Shelton and I had to bail on the afterparty but he had to get home (45 minute drive from my apartment) since he has a friend coming over tomorrow morning. Hope ya'll had fun.
The movie was funny and the cast did a great job. I squeed the most when I saw various Fort Worth landmarks (Caravan Inn!! Ol' South Pancake House!) and of course, during the credits, when the Kickstarter names came up and I saw Moonlight Fans along with the others.

I didn't personally contribute, but it still made me proud of this group of fans.
After the film, there was a Q&A and people asked questions like "When is the DVD coming out?", "What was the film's budget?" and "What gave you the idea to shoot in Fort Worth?" plus "Will you film in the Dallas/Fort Worth area again?"
Correct me on these answers if I am wrong, Lilly and Lucky. I don't EVER remember details!! The DVD will be out after they make the film festival and regular movie house rounds. They didn't want to divulge the film's budget, but it was confusing to me as to why. Andrew Disney filmed here because he was homesick for FW after going to school in NYC. And...YES, he will definitely film here again. Also, he and his friend are working on a script regarding time travel of some sort to the 80's/90's. I think that was the gist of it.
Had a fun time and Shelton enjoyed the movie too.
